I been around cars all my life didn't matter what type just liked working on them and modifying them. It has been 40 years since I had my first car a 50 merc and my latest a 40 ford that I just finished with a 392 hemi. I just retired from Chrysler and was in volved with the viper from the beginning as well as the prowler. I'm just enjoying the good life and building hot rods. What could be better to retire to!

    4tford,
Welcome to the HAMB. I've owned a Prowler and 3 Vipers and I loved them all. Good job. Now put some of that talent into some old school and let's see some pics.

I'd love to see a pic of that '40. A '40 pickup was my first ressurected "ditch car".

Is the story true that some hotrod types were building a unauthorized car in the prototype lab and got caught? Then it was explanied away and became the prowler or is this the stuff folklore is made of? Welcome from another retired chrysler person{almost 9 years of going to the mail box for those checks. Why 2 different power modules on the viper?..... Bobby..

The car came out from a hot rod designed and built by Tom Gale VP of styling at the time and Bob Lutz President and a real car nut. It also was also done to try aluminum out structure wise. It was quite a project throwing it together with a lot of in house parts i.e. the 3.5L . and borrowing people from all over the company to get it done. We try to make it old school but yet meet the FED REGS! We even argued for a small block V8 with a five speed but the trans axle could not be developed in the budget.
