Well I have been searching the site recently for any info on building up old Dodge Brothers sedans and haven't been able to find any. Has anyone on here done this? The Reason I ask is I just picked up a 1927 dodge brothers sedan (body and chassis, no engine, tranny or roof boards) I also got a 1928 Dodge brothers fast four sedan in the deal this car is complete and includes another engine and tranny with it. The bummer is I cannot get these cars up to Alaska before April of next year at the earliest. But in the mean time I'm trying to gather as much information on these dodge brothers cars. I'm looking for information on fabricating a new roof for the 27 as I'm not even sure what the stock one looked like. When building the roof I plan to put a nice raked chop on the car and then channel the body a little. I've never seen and old dodge brothers up close or even these two cars I just bought and so I'm not sure if the frame will need strengthened or just replaced with a custom home built one. Also anyone know of anyone making parts for these cars? Can find lots of manufactures of old ford parts but haven't had any luck on the old dodges. Any information and Ideas would be greatly appreciated as we don't see too many of these up here in the frozen north. Thanks, Nathan <><
No one hot rod's the old dodges? Well I guess I will have to change that once I get them to thier new home.
There was a short thread earlier today about a 29 Dodge. Tex's Mopar book also has a brief article on a 28. Owner used a 6"drop MAS axle w/ 50 chevy brakes & a 57 rear. Made his own shock mounts & boxed the frame
Thanks for info george I saw that post as well and plan on getting tex's book because I also picked up a little 291 hemi to power the 27.
I've been looking for a 30 to 36 mopar body for 30+ years - with no luck. Being poor dosen't help. If not for that, I'd be showing you my mopar rod... I'm in Ga.; if not for that I'd be asking about the "extra" body. Do yahoo & google searches using different phrases & you'll find plenty of cool mopars. Might find some here http://www.allpar.com/ or http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/moparcarclub/messages & then there are these http://www.angelfire.com/ok/32plymouth/ . Good luck, ~ Paul aka "Tha Driver" If at first you don't succeed, destroy all evidence that you tried.
Trey that's a sweet little 28 is it yours? If so would you mind posting pictures of the wood / leather top supports as my 27 doesnt have any of the roof supports in it. I need to get an idea on how they layout so I can make me some. Thanks,
Paul I Think my wife would argue with you over the fact the other body is an "extra" as she has plans for me to build her, her own sedan with it. Gota Love that. Thanks for the links and keep looking eventually the right old dodge will come along.
i got a VERY tinworm infested 29 dodge bros 5w coupe i have on the back burner for my next trick,,, well, actualy my NEXT trick is a HAMBster rail car for the Drags '06 but i digress PS... if anyone knows of the whereabouts of a pair of coupe doors for this thing,,, lemme know. mine are toast, and i dont relish the idea of building them from scratch
