Too bad that it didnt work with you.It worked fine with me,but i used some CRC anti-rust lubricant(pretty much same stuff than WD-40)with them too and i got them out without any bigger problems. So,the violence isnt always the answer, but some lubricant is;)

    Thanks man!

Well,i thought that screw thing. When i was doing the floorwork,i broke few body to frame-studs.They were just so rusted that there was nothing to do for saving them or getting them out in one piece. The threads on the frame were too gone,so i had to bore them 1 size bigger and make new threads.
Sometimes there is just nothing to do to get them open, but usually patience,anti-rust lubricant and cigarets too are key to success(if you are a smoker).

    Here is a small update.

    A doorskin puzzle:

I made an extension for 4 door NOS door skin.I guess there are simplier ways to do it.But i just dont have proper tools to make new skin and the 4 door skins are easier to find than 2 door skins.So...
I noticed that my hammers and dollies really suck,so i took the skin for my friends autobodyshop and he helped me with the hammering. The skin needs a slight fine tuning, but its really close what it suppose to be.I also shaved the door handle hole of the skin.
I guess next on the shopping list is a set of good quality hammers and dollies..

what's wrong with your hammer and dollies? if the are too ruff just polish them up and remove all the scratches and pits or you could make your own slappers out of old leaf springs......and how do you know how cold a Polar bears butt is?

Knockers work great but it really helps if you warm the bolts with a torch and candle wax the threads

Well,i think its because of the forging, thats one reason.Another one is the surface, there is not much surface on those hammers heads. So every hit is pretty feeble with them. But what you can expect from around 40 bucks hammer set?
I dont think that expensive tools make you a master of panel beating, but cheap chinese crap doesnt help either. What comes to polar bears, that was a wild guess. No personal experience of them:D
Well,my birthday is at the next month,so probably someone(me)is going to buy a better set of hammers. If someone wants to sell his Snap-on's hammers to me,i am interested.

    Thanks!

    Thanks koolkemp!
Your build thread is pretty amazing, you have done a helluva job for that project, keep up the good work!

While i was at the work at today, these were delivered to my home:

So i got my christmas presents few days earlier at this year.
Thats a NOS 4 door quarter panel and 5 slug Maverick rear end.I bought them awhile ago and friend of mine from Ohio,Harry, picked them up for me and sent them to my shipper. So,big thank you Harry!.
Those will solve a lot of my problems with this project.Especially that quarter panel,i guess thats a cure for the quarter panel hell.I like to thank msalamanca too for keeping his eyes open with Maverick rear. Its good that there is guys like them.
EssexCoupe was going to send the quarter panel for me,but he disappeared like a fart in the Sahara desert.I havent hear from him for a long time.Well,i dont blame him.Sometimes life can come on the way.I hope everything is fine with him.

    Great Christmas presents Finn!

  16. Nice panel. I did the same thing but used a used one.I'm sure you know what to do with it but recommend putting as much of that 1/4 on as you can. It will weld on the same as the factory, minus the 1/4 seam molding,There will be a short seam around the back panel area and straight down to the bottom. The vertical seam will be accessable from the inside to bump it out later if need be. If you go half way thru the wheel house area you will run into trouble if if warps inward with no access. This way you stay away from that reveal spear which is a pain to block around.
Like i said, i'm sure your more than capable. I just want it to go smooth for ya.

Thanks Eric, the gifts are always correct when you buy them yourself:D

    Thanks for the hints,tedley!
My plan was to use so much of the quarter panel i can. That panel just covers the damaged area,so i must to use so much as possible from the new panel.Only thing i am going to save from the original quarter is a small section around the tail light frenching.I like how they are done and i dont have to re-french the drivers side tail light.I am going to shave the filler door hole and weld the trimholes shut too before i start messing with it.But first i need to finish the doorwork..

Well Sir in order to turn a leaf spring into a slapper it is very easy. A zip wheel on a grinder and a o/a torch is all u need. Draw out the shape of the slapper and the handle out and cut with the zip wheel, heat with o/a and bent to make off set and handle. Have to make a couple new ones will take some pics when I do......

Not the biggest update ever, but here is a something. The door frame from the hinge side was a bit crispy, between the hinge notches and from above the upper door hinge notch,so i patched them.

I guess thats pretty much with the rust repairing with this door.Next step will be some primer and new skin.
    Merry christmas for everyone!

Hey, I am glad you found the rear end.
Still havent found one here, searching even a 3-400 mile radius.
That guy that I know has one, I didnt want to get that one for you as I can not trust anything about him.

For a slapping hammer, I designed mine from this one
    http://www.chopperweb.info/forum/articles.php?action=viewarticle&artid=98

You can use the leaf and just make sure the slapping area is trued up and the edges are not sharp. You can make different sizes.

I didnt replace my whole 1/4 as I couldnt find a decent one. So I had to do big patches. I ended up removing the spot welds on the wheel well and sliced it down the middle from front to back so I could hammer and dolly it.

    Thanks for the link!
I've got lot of info about home made slappers,so i am definetely going to make one.I just need to dig out the donor leafs under the snow.
I found that Maverick rear end from classifieds, maybe you'll be lucky with them too?
Its just impossible to find one from here,we have rides from 70's.But i cant remember have i ever seen a Maverick in here..

    Some progress:

I cleaned the door frame from inside and sprayed some primer on it:

With cleaning and some CRC-lubricant i got the door latch working. And i just bought a pair of NOS latches from ebay.Great..

And i got the new door skin assembled on the door frame. The gap between door and quarter is pretty awful and the door frame is slightly twisted. But i guess i can figure out those problems.Otherwise its good enought for me.
The door has been always a bit twisted,i got it straight before assembling the skin on the frame, but after the skinwork its pretty much same than it was before.
I think nothing fits on these things, you just have make them fit.
