Flat rear crossmember on an A

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Rjbeattiejrf150, Dec 28, 2012.

  1. Ok so I see plenty folks selling a flat rear crossmember for model A's with coil over mounts. Here's my question would that work with 32 style hangers on the axle and maybe a 40 style spring ? Thanks

  2. And its going on a 9"

As long as you realize you'd need to compensate for the wheel base change.

  4. I was planning on shortening the rails if need be to maintain wheelbase, thanks

I recently installed a '34 crossmember in an A frame for a friend of mine..He wanted to use the '34 rear and spring to get the car to sit lower..I lengthened the framerails and pancaked the crossmember to get it lower..Worked out great..I'll try and post some pics.

  7. I just made this one, set up for coil over but was thinking that a spring mounting pad in the center of the crossmember and leaf spring mounts coming off the rear of the axle would have worked. Also a spring mounting perch like on a suicide front (but on the back) may work. Just thinking out loud here...
