This build has been going on for a little over a year now, but still plenty to go...

Quick background on the car. My dad and I picked it up off eBay from New Orleans 2 years ago. The car was built has a hot rod in the 80s and had been neglected for the last 10 years. After getting it running pretty decent, we decided to put a new small block in since the old one was getting tired, and the snowball effect happened...

Way to cool, there is nothing better for a father than to wrench on a car with his son, and vice versa. Enjoy every minute of it!!!!!

We played around with a bunch of different color ideas for it, but we settled on washington blue and we couldnt be happier. The car had really good metal to start so it was pretty easy on our body guys. Here are some shots with my SLR camera so you can really appreciate the color.

This thread will get us pretty much up to date on the build. Installing the motor and trans.

Motor is a GM crate 350. I had played around with the idea of putting an Olds 303 in that I have sitting around, but decided it will go in the next build (either a model a pick up or 40 ford.) I picked up the 3 deuce set up off a buddy in CT and had the carbs redone in a natural finish. Going for a real suttle engine compartment. Clean and functional.

The coilovers were actually in it when I bought it and it drove really well. Handled great and had a nice ride. It actually just occured to me that the coilovers are really not needed. I guess a standard gas shock would work fine too?

I agree, Washington Blue looks great on your 2-door. And saving the 303 for a '40 Ford is perfect, that's what my buddies did in high school and it worked great.

A couple more updates to the project.

Motor is staring to come together well. Brackets and pulleys have been installed. Mallory Uni Lite. Painted original Corvette Lester valve covers.

Also finished the dynamat and staring the wire harness install. After tons of debate we ended up with our first choice for the dash, Knecht Auburn dash with Stewart Warner wings. The dash has been all fit and cut and is at woodgraining now along with the garness mouldings. Once they get back to us we will really crank on getting this thing running soon.

Appreciate it. Still not sure on what wheels we are gonna run on this if you guys have thoughts. Originally planned on a painted wire or artillery but now leaning toward Halibrands.

Got some photo updates on the woodgraining process. Basecoat laid down on the steering wheel and AC panel. Hopefully start some graining and color sanding next week.
