I know it's difficult without pictures but I need to try and get a baseline on what an early sixties Bob's Drag Chutes silver fire suit is worth. I won't be able to get pics until next Wednesday. It's one piece (pants & jacket) and also there is a face mask, goggle setup. The zipper is diagonal rather than vertical. No patches or embroidery but it does have the Bob's (edit, it's actually the Deist logo) logo inside the sleeve at each cuff. It's obviously worn (guy started racing in the mid fifties and went into the late 70's) but has no damage other than being dirty. I did search both the HAMB & the web (web kept bringing me back to the HAMB like it should but turned up little to nothing. Thanks very much for any help.
I hated to even post this without a photo but I'm in a time crunch. My best guess was between one and a million dollars but the boss didn't think that was funny.
Now with pictures! New to photobucket, hope this works... After getting the pics it's pretty obvious it's a Deist rather than a Bob's but still need help with value. Thanks very much!
I guess it depends on that the stains are. The material feels like some kind of vinyal so an upolstery cleaner might work.
Jeff It should be cleanable maybe a few stains will remain. Not that it makes any difference any more but if you clean it well enough to get the stains out it will no longer be fire proof. Not likely you will find the flame retardant chemicals that they dunked them in any more. They are most likely carcinogens and not legal.
Call me crazy, but I wouldn't mind working around the shop in one of these suits. I think they would sell good, big diaper load and all. Think about it.
