hey guys, about to take my seat off to the upholstery guy tomorrow... wondering if you guys could shoot me some ideas and photos...

The seat is out of a 89 GMC sierra single cab dyed black... the fabric is just worn and the dye job isnt holding well. seat is still in good shape.. just want to get away from tweed and get back to the basics.. just dont want a goober lookin interior or a boat seat.

here are some photos of what I have.

How about this pattern except blue and white?

Love the truck by the way! If you ever want to sell it let me know!

This is kinda what I had in mind.. Only more dark and subtle blue...maybe just doing it on the perimeter of the seat..

I found a black seat and started doing some photoshop on it to make it more like what I think I might like...minus the piping or cording whatever.. just an idea. what do you think.

That looks good. I would not use the contrasting colored thread french seams like you showed above if that is the direction you are going. I think it would look tacky.

With a two tone paint job, you almost need to have a two tone seat. But unless you are planning on changing out the black carpet and shifter boot, black seems to be what you are stuck with. Ive had those truck seats before. Had one in my 65 chevy, they look cool just replacing fabric with vinyl and s***ching in the same pattern as stock. Good luck...

Agreed... this would be just a black with black french s***ching with white insert.. If It cost a stupid amount to do this... I may look at doing this in black and using the blue s***ching.. but, still nervous about how that would turn out. My wife has a 2011 ford edge with limited interior.. it is a dark grey with maroon s***ching and it looks stellar.

and where I got the idea from.. but..I am digging that white insert. I think it will flow with the theme of the truck.

originally in the early days of building it I wanted bomber jacket brown leather.. but really did not like the brown carpets available.. very old dated looking colors. so I went with black.. since the truck had a black floor matt originally. The Shifter boot is from Gennie.. After seeing a couple of these trucks with brown interior I am happy with black and white. I want to get a bit of the blue in to the inside.. but, eh. no priority. I'll be happy to just get my side windows in finally. been with out them for going on 2.5 years.

To me the contasting colored s***ching is more of a modern look unless it is super simple like white vinyl with black s***ching. Once you get into colors I think it starts to look like a new car like you posted or as mentioned above and for the lack of a better term "street roddy". I like the look just not for vintage vehicles.

You wouldn't want this color but the pattern is an idea.

The problem with your seat is that the material is glued to the foam.....I have found one company who makes a cover for your seat....GT Covers.....I havent used them yet...I'm waiting on a sample of material....good luck

Lmc truck sells a good cover.. Almost stock minus the glued down look... I opted to not use them on this truck because I don't like the type of vinyl... The fabric looks great. I installed one on my dads truck.

I would have him make up a small panel for you to see what you think. White s***ching on black vinyl is going to be a very stark contast.

All black and have him use black contrast thread. Its a heavy weight thread used to show off the seams. He can also double up the top thread and get the same results. Looks good with french seams.

Hey Dave ! I took it to a place Jim bemis recommended.. Genes upholstery. I also talked to a guy at a show back during the summer, he had done his and it looked good.. Nice straight s***ches.. I'm sticking to the white black for now.. I'm going to call tomorrow and see if he has started.. Said I could come check it out and make changes .. He claims I don't pay till I'm happy.. Guess we will see.
