Hi from Michigan. Just wanna introduce myself. Engine machinist/builder by trade with some short term mechanical restoration experience. Very little welding/fab/body experience but enough common sense to usually make it work. I've always had an old car or Harley in my life, and NEVER had a pristine one and really didn't want one. The excitement of seeing a car abandoned in a junkyard or a barn was way better than a beautiful example in a museum. I just bought a new project now that the kids don't take 100% of my time anymore. It's a 1922 Studebaker touring. Pics coming soon. So please excuse any dumb questions that I'm sure are coming and if you have any questions concerning engines in general, feel free. If I honestly don't know, I will let you know. Also, if there's any guys or clubs in the Detroit area let me know. 42 here.

Thinking channeled, mild chop, lowered seat frames, no fenders or hood. Front axle is already low so I may look at the option of seeing if I can get some early Ford juice brakes on the front, change out the rear so I can get rid of the mechanical brakes and run Model A taller spokes. Not sure if I wanna run the original straight 6 "special" or put in the 331 hemi I have. The 6 looks like I could just re-ring, and valve job to run on the cheap. Thoughts? Either way I go I will have lots of parts for the restorer. Extra cowl and windshield, fenders, hood, internal engine parts, wooden spokes, bumpers, spare tire carrier, etc. Picked it up.for $800

Welcome from Dexter. I had been watching that Stude where it had been advertised for quite a while. I always thought it would make a great hot rod. I just had no place to keep it, otherwise I would have jumped at it. If you need any help with welding and fab let me know. I just don't do body work.
