Has someone made finned valve covers for the Wedge motors? I've never seen a set. I've got a 440 out of a '76 Beechcraft Motorhome that needs a home in a shop truck some day and I often think about what kind of dressings she'll need.

You know, something like this but with a little more drop to the nose...

Well, mine aren't completely finned....old M/T valve covers. But I did see a set of Cal Customs for BB's at a swap last year....I shoulda bought 'em....
I've seen guys use the Mopar Performance ones and machine the logo off too.

Here's a couple pics of a friends '34 ford p.u. with a BB Mopar in it. He usually just races it, but as you see it hits the streets too.

    I don't have a HotRod (yet) but I sure play a lot with BigBlockMopars ... :D
I got a 413ci in my '60 NewYorker which is coming over in a couple of weeks, a 413" in my '62 NY Wagon and a solid cammed stroked 496" in my '64 NY.

The '60 NY will most likely recieve a longrammed-440 pretty soon, and the '62 wagon will get a 392 Hemi under the hood.

Then I still have to find a car for my still-to-built 496" Stroked & SuperCharged engine...

  6. I think what that guy did that told me how he stuffed a 440 into I think it was a '33 or '34 Plymouth, was he got an adapter that let him run a Powerglide (Powerslide;)) Chevy transmission behind the 440, with some adapter that put the starter on the passenger side. It was an all out drag race car. I guess the starter bolted to the adapter plate instead of the engine block.

My '31 Plymouth PA originally had a 4 cylinder, so the distance between the radiator grill and the firewall was pretty tight. Later cars with 6's had lots more room lengthwise for engine swaps. In my car, my big block Chevy engine sets back into a 2" recess in the firewall and the fan clears the radiator only by about 1/2". In my car, the starter motor of a big Mopar would not have worked at all with the steering column I had.

Don't have one. See signature...want one without much success over the last two months. Everyone I've found is either junk or cast in gold.

I did just buy a 472 Caddy motor that's going in the coupe along with the tranny. Just dumped them in the garage as a matter of fact. 3 bills instead of 8-12.

  8. I have a .030 over 440 with Aero heads, a M1 manifold, Edelbrock 750 in my '56 Plymouth. It has the Mancini Racing electronic ignition kit and home-built fenderwell headers. It's hooked up to a 727 with a B&M shifter.

It's a Vega box, and along with a mini-starter, worked like a charm fitting the steering. It's quite tight in there!! Not uber-traditional, but at least I can drive my car.

  14. Here's a 440 long block assembly:

Here's one fron Indy Cylinder Head

The big block Mopar is a Fantastic Engine. Oddly, there is more speed equipment available for it now than when it was being manufactured (1958-1978). Go for it!!!!!!!:D

I have a 383 in my 41 Dodge..still a work in progress but slowly getting there...got a built 440 in reserve but have no clue if/when/what to stick it in yet...not going wild on my 41 as I am looking to build this with driveabilty and road manners versus flat out running. Speaking of the 50's..my engine mounts are 1958 vintage..different looking ducks to say the least. This is my second big block venture..the other was a 41 Dodge pickup...440..still out there but new owner letting it go to seed..is a shame...butt shot my my 41 on my profile page.

I have a 1927 Chrysler roadster with a 354 Hemi in it now. It was raced on the dry lakes in the 40s, with a flathead.
