I was thinking about doing something to the tail of my Riviera. I kinda like the rear bumper, but not the tail lights. They make the car look narrow from the back, like something british .
Has anyone seen a pic of some nice custom tail lights for the Rivi? Any ideas?
    Thanks!

I'm not a fan of the taillights either, but I've never seen a Riv with anything but stock lights (well, except for really bad, butchered customs)

I like the ones that are on it...cool car

  5. I have seen them with the lenses changes to flat lense and also seen them with grills over them.

I could think of things that could be done but it would not be a simple tail light change.

How about changing to a '65 Riviera bumper with the taillights in it? You'd probably have to replace part of the rear clip to do it, but you said it didn't have to be simple...

  10. One could make their own lenses and build the tail lights into the back side of the quarter panels, or the lower portion of the bumper coule be removed and replaced with a roll pan and tail lights built into the roll pan.

  11. Nice car! I can tell you that your car is a earlier production model for 63. The early runs of the Riviera's, The drivers side mirror is set further back. Mines is number #6530. Yours is also an early production car. They moved the mirror forward later in production.
How is the chrome on your taillight housings? If you decide to get rid of them... Let me know. I'm lookin for a better set.

  12. Also, If you ever decide to shave the door handles... I would get a reproduction door skin to do it. The early ones like yours and mine are hard to find.

Thanks for the info! The housings are a little pitted. I´ll check them better.
I´m going to keep the handles, for now anyway.

Chrisbcritter: I´ve seen those with changed bumber, but I want something else (just dont know what :D)

Great looking car, I would keep the taillights!

  18. Most attempts at redesigning these cars(other than lowering and wheels) is a flop for me. It`s kinda like Bill Mitchell got it right from the get go.

Do the 65' rear bumper with the lights in it , that's what I'm gonna do with my 63.

One could ask, why mess with one of the most beautiful cars ever built? Gary

These Rivieras had really nice styling, inside and out. I don't think I'd mess with the lights.

  25. Do not do anything to that car please other than lower it and maybe some wheels. If you need to change it like some have said the 65 bumber is cool, and maybe remove some badges . Google Morts Riv and look at photos of it,.....dont take much for those cars! I'm a Frod guy and would love to have 1 in my garage
