Hi All, I've joined HAMB out of respect for the passion and maniacal details folks in this community pour into their restoration work. I'm NOT a hard core restoration "guy", but I am in need of the kind of expertise folks on Hamb seem to have in spades. I'm hoping someone in this community that lives in or around Raleigh might be able to help out.. I have a little beat up sports car I'm fixing up and have just had a very bad body/paint job done and now I'm stuck figuring out what to do next. I'm now in very bad need of an real paint/body work pro who can give me some practical advice on what to do next. If you're in the Raleigh area and are willing to give me some practical how to advice let me know. Thanks and hope to talk to some of you soon! bradesp raleigh, nc
leave it sit for a year so it dries out what did they paint it with?? if clear base or hardened acrylic you may be in luck, i am kind obsolete on paint technology , but learned from a lot of problems you can landup with a lifting mess trying to repaint quickly, and sometimer even after a long time new paint will just curdle and you are in a mellova a hess
The paint is PPG metallic base + PPG Glamour Clear There is minor solvent pop on the hood. Trash in the finish in many places, and the dings the bodyman repaired now look like waves on the ocean :-(
Hey there bradesp, this is the intros page - you will probably get more and better responses if you pose your question on the Message Board rather than here on the Intros page. Also, a tip - I wouldn't tell everyone about your sports car - this is a traditional HOT ROD forum - the inhabitants sometimes aren't all that welcoming to people who don't live and breathe hot rods. Most are really good, but if you're looking for help, you don't want your thread filled with people discussing whether your should be asking about stuff for an off-topic (OT) car. Anyway, good luck, and enjoy your time here. Cheers.
