Ok, bit of a stretch regarding on topic... I imagine many of us have vintage, or vintage style, neon signs in our garage. I am looking for someone in north western Indiana or Indy area that can repair a piece of a sign (broken gl***). I imagine a small artisan would be a better way to go for a quality repair at a reasonable price (rather than a commercial sign shop). Anyone know anyone near Indy??
we've got a place down the road in Pilot Mountain, but it's not really near indy glad to provide info if you can ship.
Thanks for the response. I'll keep it in mind but hoping to find a local hobbyist, or a sign shop that will mess with a minor repair on a smaller neon shop sign. Thanks.
According to Google, there are 29 shops in Indy that repair neon signs. They're all in the Yellow Pages.
There is a small shop in Noblesville that makes neon signs. I can't remember the name of it. If you want I can get the info and send it to you.
Thanks Dale, but I already explored that route. I am hoping someone knows of a specific small shop that can handle something at a hobbyist level. In particular, it would be nice to have a recommendation from someone who has had good experience on a small scale repair.
V8 guy, yes I would be interested in the Noblesville shop as my brother lives there. Thank you. Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
Any repair that puts new neon fused to old will be noticeable. Better to do entire words. When lit you can't tell new from old unless they are a partial repair and that will stick out like a sore thumb. Another dying art that requires experience for smooth work.
Being in NW Indiana I wonder if you might find a better ***ortment of neon shops in the Chicago area. Several years ago there used to be a small custom neon shop in the north central area of Chicago, if I remember correctly. It was in the same general area as the Vic Theatre but I could only guess if it was still there.
Thanks guys. We have one broken piece that can be unwired and dealt with with several potential artists I have spoken to. Really appreciate the responses. Cheers.
^^^^ good luck with that price, you need a big wall or building, i deal with this monthly with my customers, smaller is better. RD
