fuel filler door?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by papawfalcon, Jan 7, 2013.

  1. I have a '62 Ranchero and want to use a door for fuel filler is there away to increase the round indentation and add a door__ Or? Thanks.Ken

  2. Easiest way is to take a fuel filler door complete from another vehicle and use it. I ave one for example from a showbox ford here that I may eventually use on something. it has a well that the fuel filler goes into and then the door with the sprung hinge.

Keep an eye out for someone parting out an old car with a fuel door. Make it easy on yourself.

I thought about doing that on my grandsons '64 Falcon wagon when I found a proper gas cap for those were stuipd expensive! But with that crease there (along the fender) you would have to form the lid, I didn't think I could find any junkyard filler door to fit it. I ended up making a gas filler cap that matched the original. Alot less fab time for that. Normal Norman
