I have no clue if it was a 4 cylinder or not. Those pics were in a folder with a deuce chassis I have that had a b motor in it.

I have one. PM me your address.[/QUOTE]

    Cool I will thanks!

Well maybe when the time comes we can take that Columbia up to your guy to have it gone through. :D:D:D

Ahh ok. Well maybe it is maybe it's not then. If you find out anything else let me know. I would be greatly appreciative!!

Ok so just putting it out there. If I did go RHD, what would be the things I would need besides....RHD Brake/Clutch pedal assembly? Would I need a different steering box? Could the shaft on a trans be flipped? If I wanted to use '32 spindles, would I need Australian units or just heat and bend the ones I have? Is this a can of worms?

Nice score. It should be a nice car when you get it done.
These cars are very, very rare now in Australia. I remember there were some guys over here shipping tourers to the U.S. in the 70's and getting big money for them then.

Lots is different if your using stock parts: Spindles, steering box, pitman arm, pedals, trans tower, column drop, gas pedal...Most of it you could make work off regular stuff unless your restoring it, but there is technically a lot of different parts

  6. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong but, cowl lights holes are the easiest way to tell a Deluxe from a Standard Deuce.

Chris is right, there are a ton a differences from LHD to RHD deuces. Which reminds me of one my favorite conversation I had with Jade Idol when he was building his tub.

"How'd you ID all these right hand drive deuce parts?"

"I didn't... every time I found a weird looking deuce part in the garage, I just tossed it in the tub. Turns out most of them were unique right hand drive only deuce parts, like the gas pedal."

Who just finds 32 parts in their garage. And finds so much that some of them end up being enough to assemble a RHD tourer???!!! You Emps have it made.

Only problem with a RHD car here in the USA is passing other cars on the highway, your blind spot on the left is a lot bigger. If this is a future family car you may want to think about them. Bob ..................not to say I don't want a Bugatti GP car or MG-TC:D

Exactly!!! I thought about that last night how that could potentially be a safety issue with the family in the car. Now I don't ever pass anyone ever on let's say a two lane road but even the thought of me driving behind someone then another car coming in opposite direction goes over the line, I won't see that either. I think it's a nice thought and like you if I had it already done (or had a RHD Bugatti or Ferrari) I would drive the shit out of it, but I'm not sure I need to put the extra effort and make my life more difficult and less safe there. It's a hot rod so the restoration thing would be purely for my own shits and giggles.

Hahaha!!! I probably should get separate old set of tail lights just for the sole purpose of wiring up flashers it'll be going so slow.

Speaking of which, I have the whole car planned out in my mind, but I can't visualize the what the tail lights should look like on the car. I'm thinking I should run the bullet type '39 Chevy or '37 Ford on the outside frame rails so to keep them low profile and not and eye sore. But I also don't want to get all hyper critical about them to the point where I'm taking it out of that early 40's era and starting lean toward WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN DONE instead of where I want to be which is WHAT WOULD HAVE BEEN DONE. I guess now that I said that I should throw stock '32 tail lights into the hat.

  14. when does your wife get the real story... I can tell her if you like

  15. I have a pair of 32's on my pickup and my roadster. I piece em together out of swap meet junk. They look good are are way cheaper then a set of electrolines or whatever.

I was in Lodi,Cal. in about 1976 at a rod run and ran into a guy named Carol Weber in Galt just down the street. We became friends as I was there for over a week. Weber was sending 32 coupes to Australia, and they were sending him roadsters and phantoms in retern. He did that for a couple years then it was to hard to find coupe bodys. I got to go with him to San Fran shipyards to pick up a container he had just recieved. What an experiance!! Then about 9 years ago a friend of mine was going to Galt to see some realitives. He asked me if I new any hot rodders in that area. I told him to look up Weber and tell him hello. He got there and called me from Webers. We talked and he was now into 55 chevs and no longer into 32s. He said he still had a phantom from the old days that he saved. I ended up buying it and my friend drug it home for me. I decided to down size and you bought it!! I am very happy to see you are having so much fun with it!!!! It will be fun to see how you get along with it!!! Good luck with your project!!!!! Thanks so much Dave!!! Really cool to at least know where the car was for the last 35 years! I'm chomping at the bit to start on it and I'll make sure to include you in on it's progress. Really excited to one day see my kids in the back seat with wind in their hair.

  19. I would like to get a ride in the back set also,,,before all my hair falls out!:D HRP

Shit, I'll let your ride shotgun!

Thanks! I wish the other one was this solid but I'm far to grateful to complain.

    Jeffery,

How do you think any RHD countries go when they import LHD cars? I drive a '55 Olds 88 as an everyday car, because the trunk is big is gets used for most family holidays and has two cars seats in the back for the two kids...

This has been my everyday driver for 4 years.

You just get use to it, its like learning to drive a 10T truck or a forklift or anything you have never driven before.

As for who ever said about a blind spot??? in a Tourer? where?? Even if you had a top and dark side curtains, your ears will tell you, you have a car beside you.

I wouldn't be scared of going RHD if that is what you want, as Chris said there are a few pieces that are different but there are also a lot of ways around that.

spindles - use a bolt on steering arm
steering box - either find a RHD one or adapt a LHD one
pedal box. - the 32 ones are even rare here, but 33-34 aren't and can be adapted easily to go into the K member. I picked up a 33-44 pair at a swap in November for $40

the gas pedal is easy to find here or just cut and shut a LHD one,

if you look at the firewall, if its an Aussie one, the pedal set up is completely different to the US one anyway

    see below,

not the best photo but it shows you what I'm talking about.

  23. That pedal is a 4 cylinder pedal, a V8 would not be so elaborate.

Do Aussies use their left foot on the gas, and their right foot for the clutch? Does the water in their toilets really swirl the other direction?

I think hot rods are "different" enough on the roads today. No need to make it even harder to operate by switching to RHD.

  25. With a show of hands who here has actually driven a RHD vehicle?

Maybe it's just me, but I find NO DIFFERENCE in driving a LHD VS. RHD....Mail trucks do it every day...

NZ/Aussie pedal configuration etc is exactly the same for left hand drive and right hand drive. I have 3 left hook cars I drive regularly without any probs.

Toilet water does swirl in the opposite direction although NZ water is quicker than Aussies.m

    Jeffrey ... :)

Go ahead and get that 32 Ford on the road.
ALL DEUCES run to Blowing Rock NC is going to be the first Saturday of June. ( June 1, 2013 )

The meeting place is the same as always ... The Target Shopping Center up off I - 77. If you do not have it ready ...
you might can hitch a ride or at least come and look at over 30 1932 Fords in one place.
