Have you ever built something and you just weren't happy with it? No matter what you do, you just aren't connecting with it? That's how I feel about this car. Everytime I go out to the garage, I just wanna work on the roadster. Wanted to do a cool grill treatment, but just don't really care anymore. I need one '57 Caddy cap and the trim to go around the back beltline, but neither come easy when you work so much and just can't seem to get it together. I think I may just get rid of it soon and start over, or just get a new car and go all the way with the roadster. Just a vent...oh well. Thanks for listening...
Wow, I think she's beauty full! Reminds me of a locals car **but blitz black** . Gosh that car was MAD fun! Running up and down the highway loaded with people. Slinging tomatos out the car as yer going. Jumpin over the car into the back with one heel hanging out the car squealing the whole time as ya peeled away.........those are memories you can NEVER have in a roadster. **x Brandy
i got Automobile ADD (for real i got ADD) and thats why i have about,,, lemme think here... no less than 4 projects in MY OWN Garage, and two others i help out on from time to time, and that dont include keeping my daily on the road (88 f-250 4x4) dont feel bad,,, keep pluggin away, or screw it, just drive it as is and wrench/torch the roadster meng,,, it'll come back around and give you the "kustom itch" again
Hey man Pretty girls in an awesome sled, sounds like heaven to me! but I know what you mean - I've been working on my ride for what seems like ages and my lack of kustomizing skills (obviously not a problem for you) has resulted in a lack of interest/inspiration! I saw the footage of the rods virgin trip though and that would be a difficult decision to make as to which ride to take to get the milk! My opinion, looks like you've got the ultimate shed fillers there - a rod and a kustom! I reckon you keep it... or you could donate it to the less fortunate HAMBers down under that don't have access to cool rides like that - I'll cover the shipping
I can relate to that, I'm selling my '50 Fleetline and putting whatever I get for it in the '30 Roadster project.
Well I've got a great big monkey wrench and a bad at***ude.............is that inspiration enough? Look who's participating in the madness. Weird! Keep the car, you'll regret tossin her off the back of a truck. **x Brandy
Adam, I am in the same boat as you are. My 55 is nowhere as done as yours, but for over a year now I just dont care about it anymore. My attention has been turned to other ideas, other cars I want to work on. Ive taken the car into the shop to have things done thinking it will motivate me..nope nothing. I would give it away tomorrow if I could just to see something else in the garage. Sometimes things dont always work out as planned. They both look good in the pix, and oh yea, the cars look cool too!
I know from whence you come. I spent 7 years building a cool '49 Fleetline only to end up feeling like I was beating my head against a wall to get it running. After one final failed push, I posted it and ended up trading it of for a player (car) to be named later. I'm happy with the trade. When it's time, the HAMB will find out what is in the works. Oh and the new owener got it running less than hour after he took possession of it. Told me it sounded good too. I knew that would happen... r
You can sell the car to have more funds for the roadster. In fact, here's some motivation to work on it, the more complete the chevy is, the more you'll get for her. I've got your missing 57 cap but I don't have an emblem.speedy
Wow!!! I've got those memories of you and we've never met!!!! I think your dress was yellow with violets around the bodice....
That chevy is sharp! Just forget about it for a while and work on the roadster until it pisses you off, and then go back to the chebby.
That's really nice! If you don't need the cash...don't sell it as you are going to regret it later. What you really need is to leave it alone for a while and work on the other projet.
Adam, That car is so damn cool. It also looks like you're in the home stretch with it. Someone posted that they had a hubcap for ya, and surely someone else can hook you up with that bit of trim you need. I can understand if you're just not grocking with the car for some reason, but man, it's bad-*** as it sits - and sounds like not much left to finish it. But, it's definitely a personal thing... if you're not "feeling the love" - for whatever reason, then it's tough to get inspired/motivated to work on it. People can tell you all day long how cool it is, but in the end, you're the guy working on it, storing it, pumping money into it, etc. To answer your question, yeah, I've had a car that just didn't do anything for me. In some ways it's like a personal relationship that begins to faulter. At first you try to make things work... convince yourself that it's just a rough time or whatever. Sometimes that is the case and things do get better. But, when you realize you're miserable, and the only solution is to end the relationship and move on, THAT can be one of the most liberating and empowering feelings in the world. At that point the path becomes clear, and you are free to willingly put energy into new interests, rather than continuing to have energy drained from you. It sounds to me like you are close to making that decision. Fortunately, when "falling out of love" with a car, no one gets hurt and there's no alimony payments. -Dr. Phil
I love this car! and I would love to have it; however I would have to agree with Vinnie, park it out of the way, pull a tarp over it and wait for awhile. There had to be ideas/feelings for this car or you probably won't have started building it in the first place.
I agree with FF, I got to about the point you are with my 49 Dodge and decided I just didn't want to work on it anymore, so I got rid of it and man do I still kick myself in the *** about it. And besides if you decide to sell it, I am going to be really pissed because you are to far away for me to buy it.
I like the Chevy- one roadster is fine two is one two many!=build a setoff or Carson style top for that chevy and NEVER take it off,=do a nice interior with creature comforts cause a creature dont wanna ride in a sunburn machine like your roadster.......Then you can really appreciate the car when its useable and enjoyable.....
Man I'm glad I'm not the only one. I was working on my own custom 52 cheb it was coming along nicely, but every time i go out to plowboys I see what he does with nothing and no money either and though why not do something like that. So now I've started my own addition to the star fleet and I'm loving it. It seems alot harder to do a custom and get everything right. A roadster or vehicle like that is so much easier and fun. When a build isn't fun it's work. Haven't ever thought about selling though, it's nice to know it's there when you need a challenge or a change of pace. I still go to swap meets and collect parts for my custom so I can do something different and nail the look. If something don't look right cut it off and start over, thats the good thing about metal you can always cut it off and put it back on. Good luck and your not alone!
Hahaha! No actually it was cuffed blue jeans, red heels and a blue n white gingham corsette top. Good try though! **x Brandy
Aaaahhhhhh... So that was YOU!!! Even better, even better... That memory will be a smirk on my 70 year old face my wife won't understand!
"Well I've got a great big monkey wrench and a bad at***ude.............is that inspiration enough?" - Brandy Certainly is inspiring - just not for working on the ride!! Unless it's to just get it running si I can pick you up from the airport
Haha, yeah...I got this way with my '53 Chevy truck and sold it. Now I kinda regret it, and it ended up in some wierdo' s driveway on the east coast! By the way, I got in touch with the old owner and he said he would look into the history. I know it was an Army/Air Force truck of some capacity. The running boards were just prepped and chromed. As for the color, do you still need the info on that? I know the scallops are Lazer Red(HOC) and the striping is Bone White Oneshot. Can check on the main color. Thanks to you and everyone for the words of inspiration, think I will feel better when I get the grill done. Adam
