I have a 53 olds 88 with a stock 303 with 40 thousand original miles.I just installed a weiand tricarb intake and 3 holley 94s(fresh rebuilds)was wondering what the best setup for a driver would be.Either run just the center carb or do a center primary with the rear as a secondary ,or both front and rear as a secondary. The car will be used as a driver in the summer so i dont want to "over carb" the motor.
Run the center as the main carb, then using adjustable linkage have the end carbs come in when you mash the gas......Do the end carbs have power valves and idle circuits? MAKE sure the end carbs close completly at idle......check them by holding them up to a light.....adjust be loosing the plate screws and tapping with a small plastic hammer.... The end carbs should have either no power valves or 3.5 valves so the valves stay closed until the throttle opens and the vacuum drops. If they have idle screws, just turn them in to shut the circuit down. Stock cam? Jetting: 60 primary, 55 ends, to start......
same old song. lots of good info on the HAMB search the subject and read for hours!! what you will learn is 3 2bl carbs is not a 3 deuce set up!!!!!!! if you are asking the question, your not a CARB man! do your self a faver and spend the $350-$400 and get one of the 3 deuce KITS that are available. you should be able to build the set up with the kit. it will run GREAT!!
Rick thank you for actualy answering the question at hand. Yes the carbs were originaly set up with the right jets and power valves so I was just confirming my thoughts.thanks again
here is a thread I bookmarked for later referral that might give you some insight. Hope it helps. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=77680
