    Very Cool Mike,

You seem to find all kinds off cool stuff floating around.

  2. Look up Doc Parsons here on the H.A.M.B. He's a Tulsa hot rodder who knows a great deal of hot rodding history from here in Tulsa and all over the country.

You might post this same thread on duckus****us.com too. It's a primarily Tulsa based hot rod message board.

Also don't forget the Oklahoma group here on the H.A.M.B.

Sorry I don't know anything about the car, but I hope that the other info can get you in the right direction.

Did you see the big block stingray that had the side cut off of it in the barn . .there was some weird story on it i always heard . . . 4. I was able to make a possible connection this weekend at the KKOA event in Salina, KS. Doc Parsons told me that a fellow by the name of George Elgin is likely the builder of my 33 coupe. I cannot track down a phone number, but was able to get an address via the internet.

These are the names I found listed for the address.

    • George Elgin (72 years old, died 12/10/2008)
    • Billy P Elgin (64 years old)

If anyone knows him, or lives near this address, maybe you could print a pic and knock on
the door for me? I'd love to see any pics from the 50's or earlier of the car.

    Thanks!!!

I've been to the Elgins home to buy car parts for my coupe, and just found out that George died Dec. 10th.

Billy Paul still lives there, but is at work right now. I think their number is unlisted, but I called some buddies and got it...I'll pm you the number.

  8. Larry, thanks to you and Marvin.

So it would seem that indeed the car once belonged to George Elgin. I spoke to Billy Paul and mentioned the car. He chuckled, remembering his brother driving him to school in the "lavendar coupe". He does not have any pictures, and did not have many details on the car. His comment was,
"Oh George owned lots of cars over the years, he bought a 3 window coupe in Poncho Springs from an old widow for $75 dollars one time"
I did not get the impression that George built the car, so I don't know where to go now, but I'll keep on the trail. I'll send Billy Paul a letter with some pics, sounds like he would enjoy that.

Thanks everyone, Oh btw, Doc Parsons thinks he has pictures some where of the coupe at Cottons Drive In from the 50's, would be great if someone went to his house and talked him into pulling them out!!

I got Parsons on speed dial...I'll see if I can't hurry him up with the pics, but don't hold your breath...he's in the process of renovating his farmhouse for a big move.

  10. I finally got my hands on some photos of the coupe as it was rescued from its resting place, 1967 - 2004. Enjoy!

I know that car from my childhood. I grew up in Yale, OK and always dreamed about purchasing that car and restoring it to it's former glory. Glad to see someone that truely appreciates it, has it. I am sure it will turn out great.

Lots of stuff has fallen off the radar the past year or so. Folks need a shot of enthusiasm.
