I have been painting cars for a while now and never used the chrome paint before so I'm asking how it turned out if anyone has tried it... I have a ton of messed up chrome parts for my 53 210 and I would like to put some of it back on the car.. I sent out a couple parts to a chrome refinisher and they told me that they couldn't do them and it seems like finding these parts is getting tougher by the day. I know its not easy to get anything to stick to something thats already plated but.....I figured I'd ask. Thanks for looking..
Personally, I think if you want something chromed, you want to find a decent part and send it to a good plater. So far, I've never seen paint that really looks like chrome. but If you really want to try chrome painting, this is the most info I've ever seen in one place. And it's right here on the hamb. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=674441&highlight=chrome
Its like painting…body filler, primer, color and clearcoat for some shine. You need special equipment. Local shop around here has one of those and ive seen some work and looks like real deal. Dont know how long it keeps its colors/shine though.
Chrome paint?? Or spray chrome.. There is a difference.. Got a local guy who has the spray chrome,, says it works well on interior parts but gravel pits badly on bumpers etc. Here is a link to their web sight http://www.jbpowdercoating.com/
