I don't know who originally built it for the oval track, however a drag racer named Ed Norton, raced it along with someone with a last name of Marion, before it became the Kalivoda / Hamlin roadster. I believe the complete history is available on the NHRA Museum site.

In post 116,third pic down on right it looks like we see the Mr.Hobbs,Alfred Hitch**** Presents,L***ie roadster again only this time with stock rear fenders and street tires on the rear instead of slicks. Seems like this thing was everywhere for a short time on the late fifties/early sixties. I'd love to know what TV show/movie this pic came from.

Also,in post 104 the roadster in the fourth pic down on the right is being driven by none other than Tommy Bond,Butch from the Little Rascals/Our Gand short films. This pic comes from the movie Hot Rod,1950.

Being a hot rod history and old movie nerd,I love this stuff.

These are the greatest roadsters ever made! This thread is perfect, I have a survivor as well, although its currently apart, I have just one picture of it in 1947 wearing a some kustom mods to its 29 body that made it a pretty slippery gow job.
Everytime I see images such as these, it just furthers my desire to restore it to its 1947 configuration and even add to its lineage by being able to swap out its grille shell for a track nose to give it the look of the "Nose Job 3" roadsters.
Thanx for the thread guys :).
