I think it looks killer, but I know what you're saying. I feel the same way about my Galaxie. It not a bad car, but it's just not really what I want right now, so every little h***le gets to me. I was excited when I bought it, but ever since I've spent more time fixing all the little **** it needed [including all the **** that got ****ed up when someone tried to steal it] than I have driving it[I bought it to use as a daily]. Maybe you should just sell it... to me. I'll trade ya a kidney for it. You could solve both our problems. Seriously though, this ma just be a case of burn-out. I say put it on the back burner for awhile. Stop thinking of all the things you have to do to it, and maybe you'll get back to a place where you start thinking off all the things you want to do. Either that, or you could just say **** it and go for a spin in the hot rod.
XadamX, You're right. That car is an ugly piece of ****. Just leave it out in the driveway and I'll pick it up this weekend. I won't even charge you to haul that wreck away...
You got to be kidding me...... Your having what writers often get,,,writers block....But we'll call this 'builders block'...Put a cover over it and do the things that you want to the roadster...Once those ideas are out of your head...Finish that badazz sled!
This place is really pretty amazing, sometimes I forget it's a website. I appreciate all the kind words of encouragement. Someone even donated a '57 Caddy hubcap! Feels like a have some good friends on here, and I have never met them in person. I am getting teary-eyed, I better go. Adam
Glad to hear you're gonna finish the grille. As someone mentioned, even if you do decide to part with the car, the closer it is to complete, the more you'll get for it. Plus, getting some momentum back might be just the thing you need to rekindle the flame that inspired you to start the project. It's already a *****in' little sled... it'll be even cooler with the grill and whatever else is on the to-do list. Thanks for following up with the previous owner on the truck's history. It's always cool to know the story on a vehicle. The blue firewall (with white number stenciled on it), would definitely support the former USAF truck history. Plus, the truck is in such good overall shape, it leads me to believe that it was serviced regularly, possibly as a motor pool vehicle. Of course, I haven't seen any pics of the truck BEFORE you worked it over, so it might have been a lot rougher to start with. You do some awesome work! And YES, I'd really appreciate info on the main color and the paint used on the roof. I've had a few folks (HAMBers included) ask me about it, and I start doing a bunch of hand-waving and dropping your name, and how you're an artist, and good with colors, and there seems to be some flake in it, and... But the conversation always ends with me going "ummmm, I have no clue about the paint other than really liking it". Hehe. -murph
thats where i am at with my 57 moredoor , should be happy as hell that i have something running and dependable , more snort than most of my cars from the past three years or so (g***ers the exception), what I consider to be just what I wanted for the interior , but everytime I go out there I wish it was a cpe or some kind of earlier 2 dr rod ,my wife is straight up upset that I want get rid of it , but its just not what i want, so I have done nothing more to it all cruise season but drive it. but ya live with what ya got I guess and feel happy i have ANYthing this dependable and fun to drive. neat old chevy rag top tho .
Dannnnnnnnnnnnnnyyyyyyyyyy! What a ****! OM, I am flirt enough for the both of ya! I've hijacked Adam's post. Sorry darling. Don't offer a ride in the A to just one of us, offer a ride in the Chevy to all of us! It's more fun that way!! **x Brandy
Well, I know where I got the color...I can go back there and find it again. Also, I may have left it at my friends place when we shaved the handles. It is a single-stage urethane metallic with 50/50 flattener in it. I have the white for the top still. It was in decent shape when I got it, but it was rough. I put a new tailgate and front bedside in, and did a good job totally sinking the hood in when I welded the seem in the center! Is it still running good? Have you worked on the interior at all? That thing was fun, looks way better in the sun!
hell yeah man! i'd love to come over and check em both out. i could use some ideas on my 55 too. always good to have someone in the same frame of mind that can pop out new ideas. James
Adam, that ride is bad***. Put it away for a bit, then go back and finish that grille. I kinda wish Mac didn't sell our chopped/stretched 5 window GMC. You can't sell it. Especially since I haven't seen it in person yet! It looks fantastic so far my friend. Keep on it!
Adam, Hey, thanks for those "before" shots. I was going to surprise you with some of the updates I've been working on, but I guess now's as good a time as any to "share". I'm not one to leave well enough alone... plus we know a thing or two about style here in North Carolina. Here's how the old girls sits as of right now... I think you'll really dig it: To be honest, that pic is a few weeks old. Since you asked about the interior, I might as well let the cat out of the bag. We just picked her up from the upholstery shop, and I really think the boys outdid themselves. Oh sure, they followed my specifications, but talk about executing to perfection. But don't take my word for it, you be the judge: I'll keep you posted as we continue to make progress. Man, I'd love to get hold of that '51 sled you're working on. -murph
