A couple of years back I used to live in LA. Friday night meant a trek over the hills into Burbank to Bob's, fighting the traffic and spending money I didn't have for dinner out. Yeah, of course, some of the cars were ****, but some were awesome, and I'm not one to discriminate too much. So it was always worth it, even when I'd get there at 9:45 because I'd worked until 9, and the cars were already starting leave because it was winter, and the nights didn't keep any of that San Fernando Valley daytime warmth. Question is, I've been in the Bay Area for a little over a year now, and I haven't heard of any regular cruise, though admittedly I'm not inserted into the scene as well as I used to be. But that doesn't mean that I don't want to be; it's just that my friends up here--a mix of old high school and college buddies--ain't into cars like I am. I need my fix, man. I'm an old-car junkie, and it goes too long between formal car shows out here. I need some of that ad-hoc stuff: guys (and some girls wouldn't hurt) getting together, ********ting, bench-racing, and more or less showing off their cars--some of that no entry fee, no lounge chair, no rules fun. Where do I go?
there are some shows during the week near san jose/ campbell/ willow glen. check out happy days diner in campbell on thursday nights. tuesdays at cherry and foxworthy. i think this one is at Big Dawgs. i've only been to happy days diner. don't know of others. sometimes at salt and pepper, but i don't know when or where that is. I'd like to have some regular car guys to hang with. my friends aren't really into this stuff. my friend Ryan has a 49 that was his dad's but he doesn't know anything about cars. James
Happy Days no longer happens...It burned down a year ago!! Big Dogs is on a Tuesday & Thursday night, in Willow Glen/Campbell, corner of Foxworthy & Cherry like James said. It has a few cool cars most weeks & a few HAMB'ers show up too. Where you based in 'The Bay Area'?
We do a cruise-in at Jon's Charburger in Livermore, or at least try to. Its been getting a few more people over time, but not that many people seem interested out this way. Maybe we don't promote it enough?
i've heard that they were rebuilding and cars have been showing up. haven't been myself in a while though. James
