Each side of the engine has 2 hollow rocker arm bolts for the oil to travel to the rocker arm shaft. I was putting my valve cover back on and when I started to turn the nut the whole rocker arm bolt broke and I hadn't even started to get it tight yet just screwing it down. I don't know what the chances are of getting a replacement or if anyone has ever welded it back together with sucess.
I would not trust welding. If you can not score another one you could find a machine shop to modify a standard bolt to work. It seems like it would be a fairly simple operation if you had a lathe and drill press/mill If it were me I'd try to replace all of the hallow bolts sounds like they were overtorqued at some point in their lifetime if it broke that easy.
I agree good idea to replace all the bolts. You could try Andy Bernbaum, Roberts Motor Parts, or those guys who make head bolts for everything, ARP?
Here is a photo of the bolt. It is not a simple fastener. It has three different threaded areas and also is hollow up to the point where it exits the bolt to lube the rocker shaft. I have check some of your references but no luck just yet. If anyone has these available I would like to replace all four of them.
Looks pretty simple, got any friends with a lathe in the garage? The only problem I can think of would be if the bolt is hardened. In that case you need to do a bit more homework, or talk to someone in a local machine shop. Good luck with your poly!
Have you tried your local Dodge dealer? There is just a chance they still have a few in the warehouse.
Did you check with Gary "73RR" yet, he's Quality Engineered Components. Having had time to think on it, "Wolfhound" in his big Poly build Thread needed to have one made. The machinist had a 20 minimum, & he sold the extras to Gary.
OK the USPS shows that the second package has been delivered to your address. The first did not somehow? Glad to have helped.
Not a word. Possibly I got scammed. I lost 3 studs in the process. I did my best and someone did their worst. You decide.
Be careful to judge. I have 2 of your studs, not 3. I have them all drawn up just waiting for some time in the turning center. All you would have to do is send me a message. Maybe now I will just send you back your bent studs. Thanks.
