The BBC were at Speedweek last year, filming a bunch of blokes building bikes in sheds, most of them inspired by Burt Munro. Although it's mostly about bikes there are lots of HAMB-friendly clips - Bobby Green's belly tank appears several times. Part 1 was shown last Sunday evening on BBC2 but you can watch it on the net. It showed the teams preparing for the salt and set the scene for part 2, which will show them racing. Here's a trailer... http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0138qjy <O...and here's the whole thing... http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b01pvbdv/Speed_Dreams_The_Fastest_Place_on_Earth_Episode_1/ Hope the link works. Part 2 is next Sunday but be warned, Billy O of The Rolling Bones High Speed Division was interviewed when we were there, which might explain why the show has a warning about "strong language". Regards Jon'.
Just watched it on BBC-HD catch up last night, saw alot of the cars I saw on twenty8tudors thread on Bonneville 2012: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=724836&highlight=bonneville+2012 Including the stand out Bombshell Betty If any of you want to see it (it is bike heavy) you can check it out on youtube now; Speed Dreams: The Fastest Place on Earth
The bloke i like most is Chris Ireland with an old Indian Scout (bit of a Burt Munro character). I'd like to see his Rodded 2cv at Bonneville though. Very jealous of his gauges! Speedo from a Lancaster Bomber, Boost gauge from a Spitfire, fuel and water pressure gauges from a Bristol Beaufighter... quality
Chick and I watched it last night. It was very good and it was fun looking for ourselves in the background. And it was extra neat as we had a couple of the Flowers team next to us at the KOA. Could they drink, almost emptied out TMan's supply. And we got team member Malcom to do his best 'Scotty' of Star Trek voice. But really we were blown away by thier drive to be 'On the Salt" from half away around the world, and I sometimes complaign about our 12 hour drive from So Cal. And yes you can see Old Crow and McTim and listen to Fogie talk. They had some great areials of the salt, the BBC spent time and money for this story, if I remember right they must of had a crew of 10, at least. I await part two, should be great.
just finished watching this as well and wish allot more of our north american tv was like this. most definately worth watching
