I know I am showing my age when I mention XKE IFS. I have a set of spindles and control arms, as well as a pair of torsion bars. My late uncle had them on his 32 Tudor back in the 70's, and although I understand they are a pain in the rear to work with, I wondered if anyone has used that set up in the states. I know our rodders in Australia use Jags on a regular basis, but not so sure about XKE. Kugel is out of the Jag business, not sure if anyone makes a crossmember for the 32 Ford in the states or not. Any pictures and such would be appreciated. If for no other reason to rember other days.
Sorry for the poor pictures. 1930 Model A coupe. Thought I would throw in a picture of the rearend too..... You might check out: www.snowwhiteltd.com Steve and his crew at: limeworkspeedshop.com got the suspension sorted out for me.
The problem is that XKE are worth too much money to be donors. The later model XJ sedans and coupes are the common donors now. If you want to get rid of the XKE parts, I would guess an Jaguar restorer would buy them up.
Interesting idea to sell to the restorers, I did want to use them. Ox*****, is it worth the effort based on what is better engineered today? Hmm.
ElPolacko can probably fix you up, he is a suspension and ch***is wizzard and makes a lot of things that either are no longer common or never have been. PM him.
XKE will work, but it is kinder old technology now. They use torsion bars and from what I have been told they are a little floaty and a sway bar helps. Also the XKE came with solid disc brakes which can overheat so you may consider upgrading to vented up front and bigger caliper as well. You will probably need a custom made to measure steering rack for it as well. They do look good installed but I'd use lug nut wire wheels over the knock on style.
Check out K and K custon crosmember, they are in australia. or new zeland. There used to be a retired machinest in San Martin calif that did custom Model A ch***is with Jag pieces. It's been about 10 years since I was at his shop. behind his house. I've lost his card.
I Have a Deuce roadster with Jag front and rear, Smooth running down the road. Built in early 70's by **** Eaton Salinas Ca. He's still around and may be a good contact for you.
