Well guys after running my Chopped and Channeled 40' ford pickup for 2 years in the unfinished look( hate to say rat rod) its time for the next step. Redoing the chop, air ride and a full paint job( not show quality but more of a patina'd look) any suggestions would be appreciated as to colors. Thanks. Update!!! I just redid my air ride and now have the nose of the grille about 5/8" off the ground! Looks pretty sweet IMO!!!
Saw one of those unchopped several years back in what the owner told me was "washington blue", I think is an old Ford color from that era or earlier. It was reallt pretty- it shined like a new penny in a mud puddle!
Thanks bro. I am assuming with a name like " chadillac" that you have one. If so what year? I have 55' Deville 2dr/ht that is near completion.
I think these look really sophisticated in a two tone paint scheme. Especially in an Eddie Bower(like in the Ford Explorers) mix done though in satin tones. An example would be Satin Evergreen over Satin Champagne. Nitro-Nicky
A friend has a '40 Ford sedan in Washington Blue and it's a very cool true blue. I think everyone is right here Washington Blue is the ticket for your pickup. CRUISER
That was my original plan but black has become so common where I live that I decided to change. Satin black looks killer when there is good bodywork has been done though. IMO.
Semi gloss satin black is the new bellybutton. More common than having a 350 Chev under the hood these days. One more vote for Washington blue. I got some photos of Rich Boyd's freshly finished 40 pickup on Facebook the other day and it's some sort of light tan that looks just like it rolled off the Ford showroom floor in 1940 paint wise.
It appears that at least one color that I am choosing is on mark. Not too sure about the orange though
Silver and dark grey looks good on old trucks. Silver and black too. Just needs some turquoise pinstriping.
I'm a big fan of the yellow '40 coupe in the movie Hollywood High, and I like the yellow you see on a Corvette or Ferrari. Nice truck, hope you plan on running a hood, I like hoods. Bob
No plans for a hood. I have all new poilished valve covers and intake to install once paint has been completed. Should have it done by next monday, I hope. I will post pics once it has been finished.
