I just bought new oak for the bed of my truck. What is the best way to finish it, I only haul *** with it.
Lots of threads oh here about wood finish on truck beds, best to use the search function. In my case I used clear spar varnish applied by brush. Be sure to seal the end grains.
Straight Tung Oil wiped on, set for 15 minutes and excess wiped off. Can be sprayed on underneath the bed with a Hudson sprayer. Touch up same way as needed.
It all depends on the finish you want on it. If you want to varnish it use a marine grade varnish. I've gone cheap on the teak on the outside of my boat and it usually lasts one season but the boat sits outside uncovered all year. The tiller has held up for ten years with the original varnish but I put it inside the boat when the boat is out of the water. It would last a long time on a truck bed that was kept indoors most of the time. As far as oil finishes I'm not real familiar with them.
Daly's Seafin teak oil. Don't forget the bottom, sides, and edges of the boards, they'll cup and twist if you don't seal them completely
