Howdy...been kinda following this board for a while since being introduced to it by Dennis O'brien (59Buickwagon). Profile on me..hummm,name...Skot Ingram, built my first flathead powered model A in the early 60's (and it would fit right in nowdays). I built a few other Hot Rods since then, but the one that most folks relate me to is a 32 5window/full fendered/orange/427 Ford 4speed/with Austin, Texas on the gas tank. I have driven it all over the country in the past 38 years...its just a good 'ol hotrod. The newest project is a 32 3window that I just got running for the Lone Star Roundup a few months ago...aggressive quicko build mainly from parts that have been hanging around here looking for the right car to go in. Flathead that I used to run in the other 32 "back then"/flat black paint/ red axles/ QC/ early "dirty American mags" with bias tires....I was sort of trying for a 1949 era build hotrod...One of the neatest things that happened when I started on this Rat Rod was that I had a lot of FUN, messing around, building a basic car like in the old days. The other cool thing that happened was that when I was needing some sort of part or help with something, FRIENDS would come out of the woodwork to help out in one way or the other...this rat brought me back to the roots of Hotrodding for me, so much so that I am planning on another when this one gets "done"(if there is such a thing) Oh yea, taking a friends(Graham Phares) Blown Flathead T Bucket to HAMB drags this weekend to run...see ya there Friday night late.
You sound like one cool dude. You will fit right in around here. Welcome to the HAMB! Never have enough Texans around here.
[ We're in trouble now! I've gotten hundreds of progress pics of Skot's stuff this year. A couple of things the modest dude didn't mention: He a bit of a welder and he drove his hot rod (the 32 with the 427 4 gear roll bar and four point harness mostly) to the first 30 Street Rod Nationals. Point being he's a driver not a profiler. Also, it's a good thing he got working on that 32 3 window 'cause we were losing him to the fly boys. Guess he forgot to mention he has a Stearman, huh? Anyone remember when R & C coined the term Beater? Well they used to give an award out at the Nats and Skot got the second to the last one they gave out. The good old Texan boy has erned his stripes. (And if you want to mess with this Texan, you better have a pretty big arsenal - ask him how many machine guns he has ) Denise - i told him he could have my cooky at the Drags Dennis
Hey Dennis, Thanks for the good words....and Yes, I did get "your cookie"...ummmm, good Signed, "Rat, tat, tat, tat" Rat Rod
Nice to meet you and run you at the drags! I found out after I got home the touring will only get about 2/3 throttle! No worries, I am building a real race car for next year!
Hhmmm the old "I didn't have full throttle excuse." huh Trent? One of these days I'll get around to posting my pics from Sturgis including the one's at your shop. Sue and I really appreciated getting picked up in the HAMB taxi. When we got back to L'ville my buddy picked me up in his '51 sedan. Does it get any better than this??? Later, Dennis
Sounds like a "HAMBster in the works to me!!!! I am thinking of one of those also, after seeing them at MoKan....I hope the "rules" get worked out...
Welcome Skotz! I met Dennis at the Round Up this year and it was a pleasure talking to him so any friend of Dennis can't be all bad. Now I want to hear more about the Stearman!
You sound like a badass, you should bring your 32 to temple Oct 1st, 64 and under drags, gonna be loads of fun, Welcome fellow texan!
Skot welcome to the HAMB. Enjoyed watching you run that blown flathead T @ the HAMB drags and seeing the 32 and meeting you @ Roundup. Eddie Bell
