Metal Shaping with thumbnail shrink dies, planishing dies, then using a bead roller

    These are a couple of our students from our latest metal shaping class.
    The students started with a flat sheet of aluminum, then cut out a circle and ran them through the power hammer with the thumbnail shrinking dies.

    The students then ran their projects through the planishing dies on the power hammer to smooth them out and put a nice radius on them.

    He was pretty stoked when he left. :D

    Learned a bunch at the seminar. I recommend it to anyone! :cool:

    That's great! I love the before and after shots. How long was the seminar/class? What were student's skill levels prior to the class? Were any techs?

    I do believe I spotted my pal Dan Pate amongst those hooligans, I wish I could have been there and tried everything out, but maybe next time...looks like a great experience...

    Most were beginners. The class went from 9am to around 5pm

    Very cool machinery. Looks like fun.
