gents, can someone tell me wherabout on the engine I might find the engine number on a Y block, please? also, can the chassis/VIN number be decoded to give a date & location of manufacturer? many thanks, Taff
You'll need the data plate on the car to get the date, as far as U. S. build, the third letter on the serial # is the assembly code. I can't speak for cars built away from the U. S., the serial number might be configured differently. The most common location for a block # is above the oil filter pad, it's a "casting" or "engineering" number. For example, ECZ 6015 B, or C2AE 6015 A. Hope this will help! Stay out of that lingerie mate!! ; ( Mike!
Thanks for that Mike, and for your info it's a Kansas car! is this what you mean by data plate? It's located on the drivers door piller
From your data plate it looks like the car is a Galaxie club sedan, 292, cruisomatic, colonial white, built in Twin Cities, not sure of the date but I think its July.
