calling Y blockers!

    gents, can someone tell me wherabout on the engine I might find the engine number on a Y block, please?

    also, can the chassis/VIN number be decoded to give a date & location of manufacturer?

    You'll need the data plate on the car to get the date, as far as U. S. build, the third letter on the serial # is the assembly code. I can't speak for cars built away from the U. S., the serial number might be configured differently. The most common location for a block # is above the oil filter pad, it's a "casting" or "engineering" number. For example, ECZ 6015 B, or C2AE 6015 A. Hope this will help! Stay out of that lingerie mate!! ; ( Mike!

    is this what you mean by data plate? It's located on the drivers door piller

    Some early yblock numbers are by the distributor hole.
     
  5. From your data plate it looks like the car is a Galaxie club sedan, 292, cruisomatic, colonial white, built in Twin Cities, not sure of the date but I think its July.
