I am curious also. I had one from a coupe, tried it in my A '31 pickup. Thought it was too big and bulky. Never measured it. Guess I should have got some basic height and width of it before I sold.it.
I am using a seat from a Dodge minivan. The small center seat is the only one that will fit. It fits perfect once you remove the armrests.
What kind of Model A? Roadsters have a different size than the coupes and trucks. I have a black "Diamond tuft" seat from my 29 Pick Up I can measure up or sell to you... p.m. me Chrysler mini van, the middle seat is closest... but the issue with the seats is the bottom cushion due to the body tapper... the closer you move the seat to the front... the greater the tapper! I did a thread on these mods for a tech week... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=129657
Measure inbetween your doors about 8 inches back from the A pillar. That's as wide of a seat as you are going squeeze in there. I seem to recal that my roadster had room for about 40 inches measured at the front bottom of the seat.
I think the Jeep seat is to narrow and you won't like sitting on the edge if centered in your ride.. You want 40"-41" as stated in post #10.. Chrysler mini van center seat is a very good fit...
That's what I was going to say 40 or 41" you know, some of the van seats are easy to cut down. but then you must do something with the cloth. you may be able to cut it and sew a seam down the center.
As others have posted, the van seat, is 41" wide. The seat portion is 17.5" deep, the total depth including the backrest is 21". the seat back is 19", the total depth including the bottom is 23". The bottom metal frame is 39", so I don't think it will need to be cut down. With an A coupe w/ rumble, space is a premium, and to mount the seat to the floor you will loose valuable space. The seat will pivot on the uppermost bolt. I secured the back to a 3/4" plywood bulkhead. I have made a temp base platform from wood. As you can see the seat bottom will swing up to provide access to the compartment, where I will mount my battery, and a remote fill for the MC, and other stuff. Ive got two of the minivan seats layin around didnt have the heart to throw em out, but they keep taken up room if your close to jersey and want one PM me. Dave
It is 39-1/2" at the back of the seat base for a coupe or cabriolet. It narrows a bit toward the front. I just built a new base for my car last week.
X3 or is it X4 or 5 on the Dodge.Plymouth center mini van seat. Anyway, the van seat actually fits better than the stock one. I had a stock seat in my A coupe. The springs were shot so looked for something else. The van seat it is half as thick (4" versus 8") so I can leave the shelf and still crank my weenie ass in the coupe and still have room for my legs.
