Only one problem with that list:

I have to laugh at this post because you call guys smart ***es because they try, yet you need a list (wrong list) to prove them wrong and feel good about your self. Just saying.

    I always thought the 302 was a 283 with a 327 crank and not a 1/8th bore 283 which in fact was a 301 ? Only a few 283 blocks can take a 1/8th bore.

I was wrong. Don't you just hate that when it happens ! I had it backwards , a 302 is a 327 block with a 283 crank , which is basically the same thing because of the bore of the 327 block. Sorry !

I think that's basically what the 307 is, small displacement but longer stroke mostly for pickup truck use.

I think the little cheat sheet is right on the 305 date:D and by the way. I had a very close friend that ran a 39 chevy with several 283 bored 1/8 to 301 in late 50s early 60s. He used any old 283 we could come up with. Several street cars around here ran 301 sbc.

PS The cheat sheet gets another one;)

I hated to be the one to point out the 305 error as I am not even a Chevy fan. Just an ex-machinist of 20 years. :)

No problem 54nomore. I just thought that I would post this little chear sheet for the guys like me that can't remember yesterday. I love Chevys. But I don't try and keep all this spec ****e in my head. Over the years I have had Chevy guys trying to explane how lets say a 305cu in engine came about. F&^% I don't know. I would get my little cheat sheet out and say it was born from a 265 with a 350 crank. So thats all there is....

  16. well.....the SBC's that matter are correct......265, 283 , 302 , 327 ,350 , 400

FWIW, I'm not really ANTI-Chevy. I've had my eye on a '59 Apache for quite awhile now, and a freind of mine has a 1960 283 engine I know I could get for cheap. But this has nothing to do with this thread, so I'll be quiet now.:)

Ok. Who was the Kook that made up this list:rolleyes: Well smart *** I have been looking for that information all this time. You see I'm German and I don't take **** very well. The kook that made this list was none other than Popular Hot Rodding /1969. Be carful to not kill the messenger:mad: You may have not been born at that time Deuces;)
