About $1 A cubic inch is normal around here on a used engine.

If it were me I'd go for the 327. The 327 in my 56 Bel Air 2 door seems to pull harder then any 350 I've had. Besides you can always go to a 350 at a later date.

You make more torque with a 350, parts like pistons cranks are easier to come by, you got get a votec headed 350 from a junk yard, throw a small cam and intake on it, and make 350 hp easy. But I just have a soft spot for 327's. My dads 327 in his 55 is pretty wild. 350 4 bolt main block, large journal 327 crank, pink rods, 60's corvette 11:2:1's, isky circle track cam 546/555 lift 256/262@ .50 I think, 106 lsa, world sportsman II heads, crane 1.5 roller rockers, hooked super comp long tube headers, edelbrock tunnel ram, and two 600 holleys, m-22 4 speed, and 4.10's.

Good move on the 327. I have built plenty of both , and until recently never had run into this. Had a 350/295 bored .030. 2:02 heads , I think revalved 72 pickup heads. Put a nice little cam in it and ran it in front of a 4 speed Muncie m20 with a 3:08 rear. I promptly dropped a front main and had to have the car running quick. I bought a 67- 327 rebuilt short block just for a quick fix.( figured I would rebuild it myself later), I put ALL the parts on this 327 engine from the 350 with the bad main. Same car, same every thing and there was definitely a big difference. I guess the shorter stroke was the recipe in that case. I don't think you can go wrong .

Great choice on the 327, I loved the one I had. I am always looking for another.

Not only yes, but all the small journal 327's had factory forged cranks as well. May not mean much for a general driver, but kinda nice if you decide to put some real heat to it in the future.

64 is a small journal. There will not be hardend seats in the 327 heads or accessory holes.

x2 on that! I am always looking for an extra one or two just to keep on the backburner just incase! I am running the 327 that was dropped in the beast back in the mid 60s! It has been rebuilt and I love it! Best small black ever that I have owned!
