    Howdy:
I'm thinking of buying this roadster out in CA and I was hoping someone out there might be able to help me with some ideas about shipping the car from SO CAL to TX. Any quotes and/or ideas would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Craig

Craig...Ive never shipped anything as potentially fragile as a roadster...but if you do a Google search with "auto transportation" you will get a ****load of hits. Most websites have quick quote ****ons and you can start to get an idea about what the range in prices are. You can request enclosed etc...you can also look into Uship.com they are pretty good...they have guys bidding on the job, kind of like a reverse Ebay..the prices go down with time not up. You just fill out your parameters and off you go...hope that helps...the guys on here that transport also have a good reputation and are car guys....

With a roadster I'd either go with one of our known HAMB haulers or one of the Specialty transporters who haul cars in enclosed trucks/trailers. Chances are that the majority of what you would get through A search are open convoy trucks or the dualie pickups with the three or four car trailers on them that normally run used cars back and forth. Either is ok if you are buying a driver quality 60's sedan but not what you want hauling a roadster especially in the middle of winter. There may be a few Texas or further east builders hauling cars out to the GNRS in the next couple of weeks that will have and empty enclosed trailer going back too if they deliver the car to the owner at the show.

I bought my car from a forum member that lives in la port tx. I shopped around and alot of shippers are a buck a mile, Inclosed a little more. My car was on a open auto transporter and the car above leaked oil on the trunk of my car and it looked like it went through a serious storm and was hammerd when it arrived. I used a company called autoline transport. They basically book transporters that have extra room on there trucks coming across country. Price was right at $600 bucks but just beware of what the car goes through on a open transporter. Try calling some of the guys on the forum.

I would go with a Hamb haulers....welcome from down the road also

  8. Go enclosed ....

80 m.p.h on an open trailer does little good to any car ...
