Hi all, Newbie here from VA. Just figured I'd tell ya some more about me... I'm a complete Volkswagen nut, owning and completely restoring two 1971 Super Beetles. I plan to keep one as original as I can and may turn the other into a drag bug. (Dad has a 2500cc engine with my name all over it) My newest addition to my driveway is a vintage 1950s travel trailer. I plan to redo her inside (she doesn't need much done) and take her cross country to all of the old school car shows and some national park ventures. I'm hoping to have her in condition to do so by this summer. Although I like my "girly" cars like VW's, I have a huge spot in my heart for other old cars and cruisers. I am completely in love with the 50's Mercs but am sure I will never own one myself My mom, and best friend, owns a gorgeous (all original) 1951 GMC half-ton pickup truck. It has been featured in Summit, even though it doesn't have a Summit part on it. Ha! I'm so lucky I'm going to inherit that beauty one day. I have a twin brother who owns a 1973 Jeep Commando. My father owns too many vehicles to list.... His newest thing is a 1965 Mustang. My boyfriend of the last three years (he was the one who got me on this site) also loves antique cars. He is currently restoring his 1953 Ford F100, and building a motorcycle on the side (I'm not too happy about the bike... I know too many of my dad's friends who are missing legs...) But hey, what can ya do? All in all, I love everything old/vintage including everyday things like clothing. I keep telling my parents I was born in the wrong era; because all of these "old" things feel so normal and just right.
Hey there Modernhippie, welcome to the HAMB. I'm not 100% sure that there will be a lot of people on here celebrating your love of VW Beetles, as this forum is really dedicated to 65 and earlier hot rods and customs, but it sounds like you have lots of relatives who are into those. Welcome, but don't be surprised if you get 'lightly toasted' if you start a VW thread. Enjoy your time here. Cheers.
