So im not to sure what to search for on here with the issue at hand. I am currently doing a chevy truck for a friend, 53, getting a 350/350 combo. My question is, ive got the engine and trans sitting level, and straight, but because of exhaust and steering box locations, its sitting 1, maybe 1 1/2 inches to the p***anger side. So im wondering if this offset is going to make any driveshaft issues? Maybe when i order the shaft, i should get it in double cardan variety?? Any input appreciated!thanks. Beefthunder.

  2. It wont be an issue! Vary rarely are the diff and the engine in perfect alignment!

  3. As far as it is from the rear end it should not cause any real problems. Your U joint angles are not going to be as severe as they would with a short wheel base vehicle. If you were building a car whose performance were measured in .001 second I would be worried but for something to drive I would not sweat it at all.

awesome thanks! my next door neighbor growing up is a hot rod hall of famer, always used to say to kick the axle over a 1/4 in to cure driveline vibes, but wasnt sure if the increased difference would be bad with a slip yoke and single cardan. gotta love the hamb.
