comet gasser question

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by alphabet soup, Jan 15, 2013.

  1. A buddy of mine is starting a '62 Comet g***er project. He wants to use an I-beam front axle. What are guys using in these early Comets and Falcons?

If you use an Econoline, remember it NEEDS to be narrowed, unless you want your tires outside the fenders! The guys I know that have done it use the Speedway Kit,you can order it narrow enough. ROY.

Speedway kit, or a narrowed econoline axle as said before. People also use dodge a100 axles.

Speedway kit - 48" wide fit my Falcon perfect . Econoline will need to be narrowed about 5".

  5. We looked at the Econoline. Although neither one of us thought about narrowing it. Thanks.

The Speedway kit offers you modern brake options, replacement parts etc.

If you get an old I-beam that's tweeked just a hair, she'll be a real guardrail hunter..........don't ask me how I found out, I thought I'd lost me Mojo......

The Mercury dealers of southern California put pressure of Ford to include their cars in the Pico Rivera plant Racing Program. In 1965 a 289 S series came out (Special order only) with a 4 speed, HP 289 and a modified suspension system and brakes. Those ecars really impressed those at the Drag Strips. Why not look into just how those 289's were setup? They regularly were taking home a lot of Trophies. In my opinion they were well designed and constructed. The Blue Printed versions were constant winners.
