Thanks for sharing. I'm a Ford man, but if I ever tired something different, it would be a Wide-Tracker from that era. Great looking cars, with great interior appointments, and strong engines. What more could you want? And a bazillion times better looking than their chevy cousins.

  2. Man, now I wanna get my hands on a old Pontiac wagon!! Cool story

My Dad has a '63 Bonneville convertible. It's probably my favorite car I've ever driven. Those big Pontiacs just cruise down the highway.

  4. Pontiac really did hit the sweet spot with these cars. Went from nowhere to third in sales for a while.

    I love the '59, '62 and '63's in that order. I currently have a '63 Grand Prix.

  6. Nice post. Brings back memories. Had a 55 sedan and convertible
that I ran at the drags 50 years ago. One day I'll have another.

  7. Exactly. They're just great cars. Ford had some, too. Detroit gets it just right once in a while.

  8. There's a black '63 Grand Prix in the story, in color. Bill Mitchell's best.

  9. Rich Maskin (of Maskin & Kanners and Dart Machinery fame) got his start with a '55 Pontiac he drag raced around the Detroit area... it was a Canadian Pontiac with Chevy wheelbase and SBC V8, killer car in C/MP.

Here he is at the Dirty D:
