A buddy of mine Big-O told about this site and all the info. he's gotten for his '56 Plymouth. On the other side of my garage where his car is being worked on is my "63 Riviera I'm slowly making into a mild custom. So I'm here looking for any help along those lines. To start with the enigne is a 425 with 100,000 miles on it. She runs smooth but I know I need a rebuild. Just not sure if it should be a full or just top end.

Welcome to the HAMB. Your buddy did good telling you about this place. Love the Riv's and just to give you my 2 cents. If your Riviera has 100,000 miles and you are going to go to the trouble of just doing a top end, you might as well go through the whole engine. I think you would be better off in the long run unless you don't plan on keeping it that long. How bout showing us some pictures of it?

The Buick finally made a baby step forward! Nothin big just a little penetrating oil in the cylinders and help free up and corrosion built up on the rings from sitting....

    Welcome aboard.
If you're trying the old penetrating oil thing to free up the cylinders, I'm figuring a complete teardown and rebuild will probably be money well spent.
Early Rivieras are great cars - real classsssy!!! Don't be afraid to post us some pics if you cave-dudes can work out how to do it.
Enjoy your time here on the HAMB - it's a great place with a lot of laughs as well as lots of info.
    Cheers.

Before I get into tearing down the enigne I want to get my ducks in a row and get the right parts. I'm having trouble finding a cam and headers any help would be helpful.

hi 63' riv...welcome aboard...just finished my 64' last sept.....as far as a rebuild goes i would go stock ..maybe a mild cam...mines all stock..425 big block remember these beasts make 465 ft/lbs of torqe from the buick plant i axed my ideas of headers and a cam after i got running mine .... i have stock manifolds going into 2 3/4 pipes and then into 40 series flow masters and coming out in front of rear wheels..sounds and runs crazy good....also if you do your rebuild (which with 100k on you would be foolish not to do) do not put exhaust manifold gaskets on them...they came bare from factory and all you will do is crack heads and break studs...(somethings you learn the hard way)...if you need any advise or help locating parts give me a yell...ROB
