Seems like a lot of bitter people here.George Barris, one of the founding fathers of the Kustom world,is a whole lot better off today.
    What's the problem?

Dang, Hope I didn't sound bitter. The guy probably worked his ass off for what he has and has the right to blow it on whatever he wants, Even if it is 4.2 million for a Batmobile.

I wonder what that really means to George.
    Was he a millionaire already?

I much prefer the original Futura, but concept cars have such a short life-span.
George apparently bought the car from the Ford Corp for $1.00 after they'd finished with it, then it sat around for a while before the makers of Batman approached George to build them a 'Batmobile'.
The car attained mythical status as the Batmobile in the prime time hit (Zap, Kapowie (I just had to)), yet was surely far less well-known as the original (except for car-buffs like us).
Its value today is surely because of the fame it got as the masked crusader's ride (no, I'm not talkin' about Robin), and whilst I would prefer to see it as the original Futura, the guy has shelled out $4.2M plus fees to buy the Batmobile. That's what its likely to remain as.
Is it good value? It all depends on who's opinion you're asking.
Good luck to the guy who bought it. Good luck to George.
Good news story all round, I say.

  13. You are correct to a point,,the one sold last night is the original Futura that was turned into the Bat Mobile,,George used the original car to pull a mold and they were fiberglass clones.HRP
