This coupster came from the Rhinebeck, NY area. I couldn't p*** up the deal, so it's now resting comfortably in my garage. I plan to make a few changes....change out the blingy gauges, steering wheel change, maybe change the red wheels to black, and look into having a convertible top made for it. The flattie and C4 trans work fine. The Lokar shifter is so so, might need a tweak in the linkage? Anywho, whataya think?
I'd say it is one of the better done coupsters I've seen for a while. Be happy to have it in my garage. Tim
I'd have to agree with Timwhit on that one. That is one of the better looking coupsters I have seen. It more resembles a cabriolet than a coupe with the top removed. I like it just the way it sits too, I wouldn't change a thing that I can see. Thanks for showing that engine shot too, it shows me just where I need to set my 8BA in my A frame, I may have to hit you up for the measurement of how far the motor mount sets back from the frame and some detailed firewall shots. Those photos are making me thing steel wheels and white walls rather than wires and black walls.
VooDoo is turning into a gold chainer, buying finished cars Very nice score, your planned changes sound good too.
No problem, whatever you need, let me know. The firewall is recessed pretty deeply. Not sure why the builder did that, looks like he could have kept the motor more forward.
Hahah, Harv! You're right! But in all seriousness, for what I paid I couldn't come close to building anything similar.
Yeah, the '55 is under a cover in the driveway. I had to make room for the coupster. The '33 is up on the lift above it.
That is a well done coupester! When was the car originally modified? Looks like a Dagel Deuce gas tank set up for an A.... Works well on that car!
I don't know when it was originally built. The previous owner p***ed away, I got it from the heir who is not into cars. He just wanted it gone. The museum (where it was being stored due to a friendship with the museum owner) was doing him a favor by storing it and brokered the sale, but they knew nothing of it's history other than it coming from the Rhinebeck, NY area. If anyone recognizes this car and knows anything about it, please let me know. Thanks in advance!
Nice car! I agree with your changes except if it were me ild paint the wheels more of a maroon to match the interior. But your plan sounds good too!
Nice car, looks well built. I agree that it looks alot like a Cabriolet. With a nice top, it will look killer. I'd go with a set of black '40, 16" wheels, rings, caps and a big 'ole blackwall rubber rake. Done. Nothing wrong with a bought car, especially when it's a driver.
Nice car. I have a '30 coupe that I keep toying with idea of making into a coupester. yours is more inspiration. Rhinebeck NY eh? That is beautiful country up there. I was born in Poughkeepsi, and we lived in Rhinebeck.
If you decide to do it, let me know. I might be interested in the lid! Yeah, Rhinebeck is gorgeous. I live about 2 hours south of Rhinebeck.
You got good ideas! I might just do that. I like the ride of the radials, but blackwall bias plies would sure look the part better.
