Moving leafs inside framerail to get lower.

    Well guys, have not been on in a while, my computer crapped out and just got a new one. Anyway, going to run this idea with the sliders by a friend of mine who has built many cars. If he says lets go for it, thats where I am headed, I fully trust him and his guidance, going to see how low I can get, drive the hell out of it, and still remain ANTI BAG......

    When you have achnace, could you post some pics of your car with the chassis engineering kit installed. I just picked up my rear end on Saturday and was going to get going on the install.

    Sure you can move them inboard, but why, blocks or removing one or 2 springs from the leaf pack work very well. Keep in mind you will loose the spare tire well and the factory gas tank. you could maybe center the tank, but you will have to replumb the filler neck also.

    Im assuming you are going to notch the frame aswell. Reguardless of how you lower it, unless you notch the frame it will only go as low as it does when the frame touchs the axle weather you 4 link it, inboard springs, blocks, or mono spring.

    I saw this posted on another site and thought it worked well to get you down low.
    I also like the look of those spring slides...

    here is how we moved the leaf springs inside the frame rails on our 51 fleetline. You might notice that there are multiple holes in the front bracket . We can raise and lower the car by a couple of inches with the front mounts..........good luck !

    here is how we did the back mounts. we ended up doing a back half just to move the springs inside the rails

    Why did you do a backhalf just to move the springs inboard? Was the original frame rotted out? Seems like alot of work could have been avoided. HAve any pics of how the car sits now?

    We did the rear rails specifically to get a bigger tire in the wheel well. with the 8 inch Ford rear, we can get a 12 inch rim with a 13 inch wide tire with some room to spare. The rear rim in the picture is an 8 inch rally wheel with a 245 65 15 tire....it almost looks lost

    Is it channeled? Hard to tell by the pics but looks like the floor bracing you put in was up a bit higher than stock, but could be the pic deceiving me too.

    Not really channeled per se. We dropped the body down to the current level and built the floor to fit. It is about a 6 inch drop
    We kept the center section of the frame so we knew where the body mounts should be. The front clip is an early 80's S-10
