I need some information to fix my 1948 Chevy pickup. I know every has a 55, well my engine and trans are from a 55 so I hope that counts. I want to replace the old 3 speed with a 4 speed trans. I have looker at a few 4 speed transmissions, but the bolt pattern for the bell housing has been wrong (they have been transmissions from the 60's) can anyone tell me what will work? I want to make this a winter project so I can drive it this summer.
Welcome to the H.A.M.B.- This forum is for introductions, which I suggest you make before going any further. Then take your question to the main board where you will get your answer.
Sorry, I should introduce myself first, I am semi-retired from the fire service and like working on the old cars and trucks. I have rebuilt two fire trucks and a 1939 Ford tractor. I am working on my 1948 Chevy pickup now and have questions. I am still teaching fire stuff to the youngsters and am not real sharp on the computer. If your not in a hurry, I can find the keys and reply to help wjth what I know. thanks.
