Looking bloody good, Im impressed with your fab work, its going to be a pretty damn unique car when its done. Im watching with interest.
I like the work you are doing. It's definitely harder over there than it is here! But I admire your determination. I think the car will be very cool when finished!
awesome work so far i also have to deal with the customizing ignorance in a eastern country when doing my motobike customs so i know you have to fab most of the stuff you need or otherwise import it for a lot of money keep the updates comin'
thanks! at now car waiting for a body works and engine installation for a sample: when i bought the i-beam for "гнiда" the price in U.S. is 250$, and when i get it in Russia, the price including all shippings was 500$, and this way comes with all parts that we buy in U.S.
WOW ! my hats off to you and friends helping you. ever think of makeing this a two door at this point you have the skills i see them. great build
you mean GAZ13 "chaika"? we haven't work with this model yet, many years ago some guys started to build a custom from "chaika" but when they finish it a few years ago, that was a piece of crap, maybe they have a financial problems, maybe one guy started and other guy finish it, i don't know, but i think that better to do nothing then do it like this thanks! no, the two door is no good to much people in Russia remodel the cars (i can't call it customise, because the custom means something beautiful for me), so when they remodel it, the neccessary part of remodeling is the "making two door", i think they even don't understand why they do it, don't think about proportions and other moments, they just got 1 thought "i must built a two door, i must built a two door, i must built a two door...." besides i think that the 4 door have a better proportions for this car for example yes, i think that the designers that draw this model watch to chevy
You're right. The car looks much better as a four-door. There are body lines that just don't translate well into a two-door. Plus, the four-door just looks Soviet which makes it look cool for historical reasons. When it's cut down to a two-door, it looks like a 1980's Porsche. The two-door just doesn't make it look Russian.

The styling cues are so uncanny... Is the Chenka based on our Packard? I thought I read that somewhere.
Thanks for the pic mate, ive got a pic of a black one...original...when I was there in 2000 very much Packard looks...dig the front bumper!
what signals you mean stock or in last pic? in stock it's made like on 41 fleetline, and style is a copy of rear lights, in last photo (ugly violet coupe) the signals from the last restyled GAZ21, and on GAZ20 looks real uncanny all russian cars made like a colective image of U.S. or European cars something from Packard, something from Buick, something from Cadillac, littlebit from Mercedes and littlebit designers&ingeneering works, so ta-dam! we got a new car but it's not surprisingly because the U.S. cars were the sample of style, quality and technology for all world, and of course after WW2 Russian engineering industry was so sad actually like an all country, that's why a Russian engineers take for a sample best cars in the world, just for a good start
Poor car I always hated factory late model wheels on old cars. Was very common practice in England in the 90s and early 00s. I think to make these look good as 2dors it would take so much effort it aint worth it. Andi know what you mean, some people only want a 2dor cause theyre afraid of the 4door haters....weak.
it's a stupid wish to built a modern car in classic chasis, it's looks like nothing about "i want a modern car, but i haven't a money"
Hey, My hats off to you and Aleck for all your hard work and the money involved I really like '' foreign '' kustoms as they never usually are credit card builds, but closer to the way kustoms were originally built before swap meets and the internet came to be I hate to say it, but I'd build the shit outa that '' duce-door '' purple thing A canted B Post, chrome grill outa maybe that Chaka thang, cut down to fit, very different wheels & tyres and probably a dark maroon colour Keep at it man, it looks great ! " Humpty Dumpty was pushed "
thanks! while the car is waiting for body works we made some details we can buy an original pedal assembly, can ship the pedals from U.S., but it's too easy & not so interesting as a build it ourselves so this is brandnew, full custom pedal assembly for m20, & maybe some other cars with floor pedals
our blog is coming to a new hosting, so the links is lost.. i haven't much time for "web"( we build a some new stuff for gaz 21 & some new things like this
Hey! I had totally missed this thread, only saw the teaser pics elsewhere on internet, didn't know the wip stages were posted anywhere. Saw pics of a show recently, seems like its coming back together? By the way, I love your 21, still my favourite volga build ever since I saw the pics with it in maroon with the lancer caps, and even after seeing the newer chopped builds on drive2. Keep it up!
