The donor car was a `85 Caprice which gave up the engine/trans/pedals/driveshaft and steering column. That`s the way to do the rear hanger and it works very well. He does great work and he`s quick too. Not bad for an old hotrodder. I do have additional pics and I`ll try to post them tomorrow. You`ll see why the center crossmember has to go.
Super score, these are one of the coolest p.u.'s ever built. I am sure you will love this one a bunch. Congrats dude!! ~sololobo~
More progress. Took a larger air cleaner and the bed wood over to him this weekend and it`s sitting on the ground waiting on dry roads for exhaust & alignment. This guy doesn`t waste any time. Awesome job and ride height looks good. We put 4" blocks in the rear and it might need to go back to 3" after settling. Need to find some center caps too.
Got to drive it yesterday for the first time and runs/drives well. Kenny did a great job. Charge the a/c and install a rear gravel guard and call it done. Thanks Kenny! Saved my *** about a years work.
Your truck turned out really nice; should make a comfortable driver. What gas tank did he use? I ***ume those are S-10 rear leaf springs? Here's a pic of mine, it started as a 3/4 ton truck, shortened bed, etc., and mounted on a 1/2 ton frame, 71 Mailbu front clip, etc. I converted 51-3 Chevy p***enger car caps to fit the snap-on part of the derby caps, so now they just pop on.
Nice truck you have there. The tank is from Tanks Inc and rear springs are S10 with the overload leaf removed. I cut boards from pine bought at Lowes and used a radial arm saw to cut the relief for the bedstrips. The gas cap cup is a drain kit from Lowes. I cut the bottom off before installing. just required a 3 1/2" holesaw and accurate measuring.
