They bought one way tickets in to Phoenix, and we spent 9 days doing all the awesome things Phoenix has to offer. Unfortunately, they had to be getting back home. They'll be driving from Phoenix, Arizona to Mt. Vernon, Washington. They left yesterday, which just happened to be the day of their 30th wedding anniversary. I talked to them last night, and they were in Las Vegas. Sounds like things are going well. I'm pretty bummed out to see them go, but, hope they have a great adventure in their new ride. I am also super happy that I was able to find a car that my dad had been dreaming of for some time. Special thanks to Chip Quinn for helping me deal with gypsies to purchase it.:D

If you see them along the way, be sure to say "hello". You'll never meet two better people.:) I hope everything goes smoothly for them.

Thanks for the post. I love those old Buicks. Back in the 60's I had many 49 thru 56 Buicks of all styles. Buy one for $100 and drive it till it quit, then sell or trade for more than I paid for them. Go to the nearest used car lot and buy another.
Great looking and riding riding cars. What's it got for running gear? I loved the ones with the three speed standard ******
.Your dad is very lucky. Has an old car loving son, a nice rare Buick, and two wives!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. This car is a '52 with the 320 inline 8, and the Dyna Flow. It is certainly an oddball. Don't see many 52s, let alone a 52 Roadmaster 2 door. He's pretty happy with it. Runs down the road pretty darn good. I've put around 700 miles on it in the last 3 weeks or so. We used it as a daily driver while they were here, so, it spent most of it's time with 4 people aboard and a full trunk. The gal on the right is his sister, my Aunt Joy.:D

  19. Thanks again for the well wishes all.

Talked to the folks this morning, they were sitting in Wells Nevada with the car on the battery charger. Even after running it fairly late last night the 15* weather took it's toll on the 6v battery, and the mighty Roadmaster wouldn't start. They called a little later in the morning, and were under way. I sure am glad I packed them a to go tool kit. They will probably be sleeping with a battery in their hotel room tonight, unless they get far enough towards the coast to duck the cold.

Just wanted to say thanks to all the folks that sent me PMs with phone numbers along the way, should they encounter trouble. Cl*** acts, each and every one of you.

Bodi thanks for the update on the Buick. Those were some great cars. I'm sure that 2-door HT is pretty rare.
Congrats to your parents on their 30th! Not a lot of people stick together that long. I know!
About the battery, I had a 1950 Buick Super that went dead if I didn't drive it regularly. Sometimes there will be something draining it slowly that you can't find.

  21. Nice story

    Your folks have good taste

Hauling the battery in the motel room might not be a bad idea. I just got a report about freezing rain between the 70 and 100 mile markers on I 82 in Washington but they probably won't hit that until Friday.

might want to think about buying a 8 volt battery

  24. I think the car will probably be going 12v once it gets back to the homestead.

Thanks for the update 48Chev. The Blues are usually a pretty big gamble for us this time of year. In '09 I hit snow in Pendleton Oregon and it continued all the way to Ely Nevada. We got to Vegas and read on the internet that they had close I-84 just behind us. It was shut down for a few days. It can really hit quickly in that area. Still the best way to get back and forth for us though.
