    Must be a yuppie thing!

Oh well, at least they got Harleys out of their system. Now real bikers can ride with real bikers once again.

Well that's why mine is all hidden, I am a music junky, I like my tunes. Now I don't think all cars need them, when the 28 dodge gets done it won't have a radio in it:eek:

Most head units can be taken apart, remove the remote sensor and relocate it in an area that the hand held remote can pick up.

Any pics and more details on how you've got it to hook up to different cars?

I like this idea as I've got multiple cars and this would be the easiest thing and I wouldn't have to worry about cutting into the car at all. I guess on the no top cars I could put it in the trunk or carry it MacGruber style when I wasn't with the car.

Some good ideas here. Got me thinking more toward a totally hidden unit with a remote control.

Great thread idea! My 56 F100 has it in an overhead console. Not sure where it will go in my 32 and to be honest I forgot about the overhead until now. Where I live I have a long drive to shows so rock n roll is a must.

My '30 Ford Tudor has so much static in the front seat area that I've found a BOOMbox on the back seat works great on longer trips. I don't want a radio on shorter rides, only smiles, memories and car sounds.

I've got an AM/FM/C***ette mounted above the windshield, overhead console style but only listen to it during a local cruise sponsered by a radio station. Only day all year they play decent music.

Anyone seen or have a new round shaped radio? I saw it somewhere and thought it could be mounted in something like a tach cup under the dash.

My '35, just under the bottom of the RH dash rail in front of p***enger, easily reached but out of sight as I didn't want to cut the dash. Unfortunately I had to stick the speakers somewhere, same in rear.

Personally, I'd rather not have a radio at all but the Missus whined and whined about no tunes in the car and bought a Secretaudio SST (on her card) and I mounted the head on the back wall of the glove box behind the vacuum n' AFR gauges.

The first month n' a half that I owned this damn thing it spent 28 days in California gettin' repaired. When they sent if back ta' me, it still didn't work an' the tech dude tole' me to pop the cover off the main unit with a pocket screw driver ta' check a plug to the DIN cable on da' mother board...Why couldn't he a'told me that ta' begin with?
    What a POS...
They sent me a new control head and a new 8 pin DIN cable ta' finally get it ta' work correctly.
It's workin for the time bein'.

Leave her at home next time, that will eliminate the static!:D

  18. We don't need no ****tin radio, couldn't hear it anyway. However, to me, the best are original radio converted to am-fm stereo in it's original position, if possible.

every time I see an overhead radio I am reminded of friends killed from their heads hitting the overhead console in a accident

  20. Blasphemy!!!!

NO vehicle called or considered a "Hot Rod" should have a freakin' cup holder!

    What's next, cruise control!?!?

You guys men or teetotalers?

^^^ you know, some one drives customs, and thers nothin wrong about having cup holders on a custom, as long as theyre concealed or built in on a custom console.

Some of the Retro Sound units are pretty good lookin i gotta admit. Some i wouldnt even mind in plain view.
On a note. I really dont get how anybody wouldnt want tunes while cruising. I understand if its a hot rod with no exhaust whatsoever, but other than that i have a hard time understanding it.

For those that want a portable unit,Some of the truck stops (Loves,Pilot, etc) sell these aluminum skinned boxes you can mount a radio in....I think they come with speakers.

All you need is a power hook up plug and maybe some sort of antenna.
