JAN 23. Winter Parts Meet Flea Market, Cambridge, MD Anyone know anything about this event? Is it worth a 3 hour drive for me?
Some ***ociates of mine have been to it. I've intended to go a few times but, never made it. I think it's an AACA function so don't know how much you might find in the way of hot rod parts, maybe some vintage goodies and sheetmetal. My chums have told me it's a worthwhile diversion during the long winter months, perhaps more of a social gathering than anything else. Depending on the weather, they say some interesting rides show up outside sometimes. Is it worth a 3 hour ride? I guess it just depends on how bored you are with Winter by that time in Jan.....Don.
Any flea market is only as good as the stuff you find. The weather is a big factor. The inside is small and not too many good finds but if its not too cold the outside will have lots of garage cleaners you can sometimes score a home run. It's always a gathering for mid winter gab fests for us locals. We like to drive the 3 hrs to Allentown and rarely find anything but for me the trip is part of the adventure. Allentown is larger. You will probably be disappointed unless you just want to get away for the day or you find that last little piece that you need. I think it was last year that one guy had a complete early Cadillac engine and auto trans. so you just never know. It's a good thing I was broke.
Sorry about my lazy self. A little searching on my part indicates that the date is Sat. Jan. 26th, 2013 this time around. Anybody going? While it may not be the biggest event, it does provide for a little "car related" day in the middle of Winter. See you there?
I'll need a hotrod "fix" long before that. Some years it's colder than a well diggers *** with the wind off of the water but last year it was pretty nice. I won't find any cool stuff under my couch. I enjoy the BS sessions as much as any small parts I might find. Don't expect much and you won't be disappointed.
Jeff, If the weather is favorable (usually COLD)it might be worth the trip because of outside vendors. COLD or snow? I'd stay home ...and I do most years. HNY Murph
I'm only a half hour away but have never bothered riding over there. I think I will this time, there are a few odds and ends I might want for my shoebox. I know some of the regulars, they just haven't been persuasive enough to get me there!
Only 3 weeks away! Start saving your pennies to buy that elusive treasure you've been searching years for.
Sail winds park Right at the first light after the Choptank river. You can see it on the right as you go over the river headed south on rte 50. I'm the fat white haired old *******. A flea market is only as good as the parts you find. Unlike Carlisle and Hershey you can take the time to search for the small stuff that makes a car. This is an old post so the date is different from the ***le.
..............Like Tommy said, the date this year is Sat. Jan 26th.............Don't go on the 23rd 'cause you'll be the only one there.
I'm only 20 minutes from Cambridge, no excuse not to check it out. I've never been, I seem to always be working when it happens. Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
We dont call em rubbers down this way, those are "Hoopers Island Reeboks"! I will be there. http://www.k***andralau.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/kmluniaz_008-1024x682.jpg
........Hoopers Island Reeboks.......I like that.........Man you've got some "hairy" legs and ****** rubbers, er I mean Hoopers Island Reeboks.
Too cold for this old ***. I knew Smoker was out and I don't need anything but warmer weather and some get up and go. I figured the attendance would be down. I'm proud of you.
