    Some beautiful machinery for sure!

Cool to see Chicks new car - his last roadster was stolen from the hotel at the show 2 years ago iirc. He's upped his game somewhat though; as nice as his old car was it wasn't ambr material - so in a curious way it seems something good can come from a bad situation. I expect he'll drive the wheels off it too once the glossiness of the shows have faded . Hope to see you on the road Chick.

I believe the Mariani roadster is the Bonneville record holder at 214.202. How cool is that!

I'm on a tablet... is that red '32 running a mod motor? Or CJ?

  6. Personally I dig the 27 track nosed roadster, but regardless of who wins, it's great to see the swing back to more traditional looking rods. The swoopy, phantom, Boyd type cars leave me totally cold.

According to the Hot Rod article (link in 1st post) it's running a 'Rolls Royce 12-cylinder used in P-51 Mustangs'.

My choice is also Mumford's Brizio-built '27 Tract T. But then, I'm biased.

That explains the big nose but it doesn't make it any prettier. It's tough to pick a winner from my vantage point but, my 1st choice is also the Mumford T. It's got a V-8 60 Ardun in it! Are those Kinmonts on the front or Wilson backing plates.

  9. I am a hard core Deuce Nut and all you guys that know me are aware of that but Damn,,the John Mumford roadster is the cream of the crop and it ain't a Deuce.

Gotta give credit where it is due,,the color, proportions & look are dead on,,my vote for AMBR. HRP

The 27 or 28, both are outstanding looking cars.

901 and 907 are nice, but, i'd have to go with the '27 track nose, it's beautiful in a plain sort of way.

  12. 907 and 912 for me!!!

No doubt, the Mumford "T" is "top shelf". Also built by one of the primo shops in the business. The WOODWARD roadster, on the other hand, was built in a garage, with the hearts and souls of regular 'ol guys with vision and passion, and don't forget John's ten-year devotion to making that black, simplistic, "clean sheet of paper" idea come to pass. This car fulfills the original concept of AMBR like no other I can remember for almost half a century. WOODWARD has my vote. Beautiful car! DD

The silver one is a friend of the family. Has had the car forever. He's well into his eighties. Dream come true.

When did cars become about opening your check book? Cars and hottrodding have always been about heart and passion. That's what John's Woodward represents; friends in a backyard garage doing what they love. John has made a beautiful roadster without dishing out money to a shop who would build it for him. It is definitely AMBR!

^ you wouldnt have a reason to be bias would you??? It is sick non the less. Im pulling for it.

  18. I can't see anything but #901 (’32 High Boy Roadster—Cole Wolfswinkel) winning. It's everything the AMBR cliche has become......although, does it look like someone left a panel off the side of the cowl...??? Weird.

from that small amount of photos id hate to be a judge on that. Ive got 2 that just missed the mark in my book, but picking a top out of that would be a nightmare

Personally, I think either the Emperor's Woodward or Mumford's T should win. For some reason, I liked it better in bare metal and with black wheels. Probably because I studied the pictures of it in TRJ #56 pretty good. I would be disappointed if someone other than Gunsaulis or Mumford wins. I do have to say, I think that Mumford's V8-60 with Ardun heads is going to sway the judges some..

I think it should be a 5 way tie. Is that wrong?

Try an intro first LisaPie. With regards to opening your checkbook, just look at the previous AMBR winners. This is a far more conservative group than previous years. Just because you have sunk a bunch of doe into a project it doesn't mean it is going to look good (i.e. that stretched Munster mobile, what the hell is that). Mumfords car is a true timepiece that Brizio finished to perfection. Look past the dollars and pick a winner.

The 28 Modified is pretty cool but no windshield? Understandable for the Boneville roadster, but I think it looks kind of unfinished without it.

I really do not understand what either Phaeton is doing there. Roadsters by definition do not have back seats. This is bizarre.

#901 is an example of what was wrong with the past AMBR winners. #913, Chevy Roadster PU appears to have different colored panels and a stumpy windshield. Fine for a weekend car show but no AMBR. At least 4 of the contenders should be parked in the lot outside IMHO.

  29. #909 and #912.......in that order.
Kind of hard to pick with these first photos.
    Thanks for posting.

  30. That is kind of the point. Bill Niekamps 1st AMBR winning roadster was displayed without windshield or headlights.
