Whats with the extra axle in the back, certanly not stock? The best place for info on that would be the Ford Barn web site

Leave the extra axle, that's the cool part. Probably a couple wineries down would like to have that back and in working form.

Wash it, and offer it to a restorer! That is a $10,000 truck to the right guy. Far too nice to fuck up. Bob

Stock AA's and TT's has a worm gear drive rear end and are therefore typically very slow unless modified.

This way Ford could get higher weight carrying abilities out of a smaller HP engine.

I have A similar AA missing some the tandem axle bits. I would really appreciate some rear clear closeups of the axle system.
    BTW I am in norcal.
    Go To http://forums.aa-fords.com
That's where you'll get tons of AA info.

On the tag they spell it Ruckstell, but truckstell sounds good. There was a nice running AA in East Texas for $4500. No one would pay that much. It didnt sell.

I think it is worth whatever you are willing to pay and whatever he is willing to take. Thats the name of the game, but I would put it in the $5000 range around here.

That rear tag axle was a dealer installed item usually, the factory didn't install those, you'll find they used hot rivits just as the factory did to install it, I believe there were a couple builders of those axles and extensions. Ruckstell built the high low two spds for those and may also be a builder of the other parts as well.
Looks to be a nice clean unit, go check in at the Ford barn a suggested and there is a AA site as well

I've been in the hobby for over 50 years, and saw my first AA with a tandem rear at Hershey 2012. How many exist today? This one brings the known total up to two in my book. Bob

It looks like it is a 131" wheel base AA. I have the same truck, mine is a single axle. The tag axle on the back is an aftermarket add on. A lot of companies sold frame extensions for more length or more axles. You can see on the inside of the frame where it tapers. That is the original frame and then the extensions where add along with the rear axle. It might have the higher(numerically lower) gear rear end. You can run the truck up about 40 comfortably. The AA's are not as desirable as regular A's, so they don't command a higher price. If it is solid, I would say about 3000-4000 is reasonable, but you might get it cheaper. Neil Wilson is the guy you want to talk to over at the AA site, he's really sharp on AA's.

There were some good photos. My guess is he probably decided he wanted to buy it and didn't want the pictures up for any potential competition to see.

Exactly what Stude said. The seller hasn't decided that he wants to actually sell, so I decided that I didn't need any competition. Sorry, guys, hope you understand.

I really see this truck as a full restore, custom steel bed with oak floors, restored top and interior, etc. I could find absolutely no dents or rust issues. The truck has been parked inside since 1961, one of those family projects that never got started, just passed down from father to son to son.

I really want this truck, so until I can purchase it, no pictures.

No foul in that as far as I'm concerned. Sounds like you have some respectable plans for it. Hope you get a decent deal on it and the project works out well and as you envisioned. Good luck!
