I was looking at some original glove box lights on the evil auction sight but the prices were way too much at 200 for a partial kit and 350 for a whole in the box glove box light, with a original light I would had to drill a hole in the dash and did not want to do that so I picked up a glove box light from a mid 60s Lincoln. All I had to do was drill a hole in the liner and it popped in,since its a convertible there is no dome light and they come with a courtesy light under the dash so I wired the glove box light to it and when the courtesy light is on so is the light in the glove box. 5 dollars and about a hour to install is way better then mega bucks for a NOS kit.

It looks like those license plate lights but it came out of a mid 60s Lincoln,I came close to buying one but wanted to use vintage parts instead of those cheap made in China parts.

Jeff, you could install a Momentary On-Off Push ****on Switch where the rubber stop is and it would only come on when the glovebox door is open. Slick Idea! i may steal it for my truck.

I have no idea why someone is trying to get that much money for the NOS Ford parts but back in the late 80s I was buying NOS 53 Olds glove box and parking brake warning light kits for about 5 dollars each still in the boxes,I believe in junkyard parts over new cheap junk parts any day. On my junkyard visit today I did grab one from a 63 Buick for a future project and tried to get more not many of the 50s and 60s cars had the glove boxes still in them.

Good idea. Would add a momentary switch myself to illuminate.

The original 52 to 56 Ford light is a two piece system with a light and a switch, the 56 mercury has the one piece light like the later models did. Most cars had the hole for the switch punched in the dash even if a light was not ordered from the factory but it looks Like Ford did not intend for too many to have the light since my 55 has no hole in the dash or the liner for a light.
